I agree , Ive never had any starting issues and I do not expect any at 3 degrees. I have started it in the teens with the 10W -30 oil and it was normal [emoji16]

You do have real synthetic oil that really matters in any extreme, disinformation hounds would say it doesn't matter, but people that follow the science and forum experiences says it does. That is why they use esters exclusively in refrigeration as well. If you want the best cold starting properties and best performance under heat and load, you likely will be wanting some redline or redline clone in there. Redline oil good winter oil for sure you guys in the record colds. If I lived in a climate that hits zero anytime of the year, I would be looking hard at that ester pao based oil. Not only flows to a lower temp then the fake boutiques but flows better at those cold temps as well.

Notice this time he added some 0w30's, and yes they do flow good. But someone want to tell me that crystal clear one flowing good right in the middle? yup redline 5w30, shut the front door. use expanded screen

You cannot FAKE quality, you can only trick people into using an inferior product. And that is on the people who fall for it, just say'n

Redline 5w30 is crystal clear down to -25C plus, that ester/pao base shining through.

Does beg the question about using 0 w in cold climates, if you are using a group 3 maybe you should consider it. If you are using 5w30 redline, doesn't matter you still flow as good as the 0w oils.

Makes you wander how many guys that have remote start even know what theirs sound like on cold starts. If a had remote start I'd probably still be running PP5/20 and never give it a second thought. A couple of seconds after mine was running everything was fine, it was just that first 10/15 seconds or so.

That's so me. I always use remote start in the mornings and warm up my truck for 5-10 minutes daily, and I didn't know that I had an exhaust manifold leak for a couple months until my mechanic told me about it.

My truck sounds very smooth and quiet at startup though and becomes a bit more chatty after driving it for a while...

see the differences between 5w30 m1 and 0w30 m1 in the cold?

That is what a Vii can do for you. The difference being those ester/pao
s will continue that cold weather behavior whereas the heavier Vii's formulas will loose those cold temperature behaviors during your oci. RLK too bad he didn't put 10w30 Redline in there, if you read tech sheets I would bet it would look like the 5w30 redline and w.o any VII's.

LOOK at all of the 5w30's! They look like honey compared to the crystal clear Redline in the middle. Don't run cloudy **** in your truck when it's cold, run the good voodoo juice. Wait, how did hammers oils fair in these cold tests?

Jump ship, your oil is failing you in the cold, redline wont.

The two that really stand out to me in that test in both cold flow and clarity are M1 0w30 and Redline 5w30. I'm assuming the M1 0w30 is the AFE M1?

Redline, regular Mobil & GC did well. Even the color of Mobil and GC were not to bad.
But you all know what i would pick...:***:

If i did not need to run redline for the moly and eater/PAO i would most likely be using...Mobil or Castrol with a 4000 mile OCI.......

JK!!!:bleh: Id still use redline :hidesbehindsofa:

Burla, did you ever run M1 in you're truck or just go from whatever the dealer was using straight to redline?

Back to Ronnie's question how is his redline 10w30 doing in the cold, well it has the same pour point as the 5w30 redline, both are better pour points then both 5w30 and 10w30 Mobil 1, and the only difference on the tech sheet is a 5 visc difference at -5 degrees as far as cold visc goes, same thing carried over to 0w30 again flows 5C degrees colder yet has same visc. M1 0w30 pour point, -50c, but get this Redline 0w30 POUR POINT -60C, that is -15 better pour points then the 10w30 and 5w30 redline. IMO 5w30 may protect you slightly better in the beggining of an OCI, 10w30 will protect you slightly better at the end of an OCI just maybe. You can make an arhument either way I guess between 10w30 and 5w30 redline. Of which I decided to go with 10w30 as well this month.

You consider how redline 5w30 did in that cold pour test, well 0w30 Redline will buy you freaking -15C's BETTER. That is sick?

Ya can't fake the specs, ester/pao will get you pourability UNDER -10C LOWER at the extremes proven by redline 0w30 compared to m1 0w30- Redline 0w30 bulletproof down to -60c, I think you are covered if you need to be.

Pour points and flash points some info that reveals those quality base oils.
