I'm new to the truck game, just bought a 17 Ram 1500 Sport, and want to upgrade muffler to give it a deeper louder sound. Leaning towards a black widow venom 250. Any input on that brand or potential other options and what size intake and output ports I would need?

I've got the black widow widowmaker and love it, they make the 250 and race venom in a 3inch in 2.5 inch out muffler which is what you'll need, the exhaust shop will be able to adapt the 2.5 inch to the factory 2.25 inch dual tailpipes

Carven: Has a custom install kit for your Ram that (YOU) can install in your driveway with hand tools if your not afraid to get your hands dirty & a bit scared up.

Awesome Nasty Sound! Carven is just my favorite!

Borla @ Corsa are both great quality & sound as well. But --->$$$$
A Magnaflow is not a brand I would over look either.

No matter what brand you choose.
Get a (Straight Though Design)!

The only part of the stock Exhaust system that is restrictive (Past the Kats) is the (Tank) most call the muffler.
Many have gone so far as to replace the stock Y-Pipe with a custom made one with Zero change in performance.
The (2) resonators out back are Only sound chambers! Some what like a baby flowmaster.

I myself did not want to lose any low-end torque so I just did a muffler swap. Nothing seems to have been lost on the upper end. She will still scoot with the best of them.

 Welcome!
Your truck, your choice.

YouTube is full of RAM 1500 exhaust clips.

You can go from cheap welded in to whole systems from the back of the catalytic converter--even a muffler by-pass or muffler delete kit.

Remember: your goal is to make it sound like a Hemi, not raise the dead. Bottom line is the factory muffler is too quite, too big and too restrictive, BUT it is possible to go too far, and its really a matter of where you live and drive and how close the rest of humanity intrudes on your exhaust volume--just saying.

Carven progressive. Installed myself in like 35 minutes. Sounds amazing. Also could be in my head but feel like truck pulls harder once the RPMS get up in the 3500 range

I'm selling a Flowmaster 40 series for $50? Was aggressive enough for my preference. Can't figure out how to upload a video for you

A couple of weeks ago I was also looking for a muffler that would give my Ram a more aggressive loud sound and was told to look up the 14" magnaglow, so I did. After watching countless youtube videos on sound I ended up pulling the trigger on in. Some people even said it was too loud for them. I have absolutely no clue how this pipe could ever be considered too loud. I was actually kind of let down after I installed it. I didn't get the sound that I wanted. Don't get me wrong, it sounds nice and has a mellow tone to it, but I'm from the south. I wanted something that turns heads, but at the same time keep my wife from killing me after she went deaf. :flipthebird:

Another vote for Carven Progressive. Put mine in 2-3 weeks ago and am thoroughly impressed.

The nice deep rumble continues through the entire powerband and there is no raspiness.

Self installed. Took me about an hour.

I purchased the magnaflow cat back kit for my 2500 ram with the 6.4 hemi. This kit was a great benefit to me. I gained some gas mileage as well as noticable torque, since the stock muffler is so restricted. The sound is just right. Not to loud, but noticable. The quality is very good. Polished muffler, resonator and final tip. Two guys can put it on is a couple hours.

When the time is right I'm going with the Carven Performance muffler or... if I have the cash a Corsa, maybe with some headers.

Snapper: I'm Curious? did you run your Ram on a dyno to observe that so called Butt Feel/Guessing--->Gained noticeable torque?

No dyno,. But I have owned this vehicle for over 2 years and you can feel the difference. While towing the truck does not down shift as often and I am burning less fuel so that means my foot is not on the gas as much. I am satisfied with my choice. Again it's all personal preference and exhaust sound.
