I have a 2007 Ram 1500 4x4 and yesterday my upper ball joint on my drivers side broke. It is still connected to the knuckle but the upper control arm isn't connected to anything anymore. Autozone, Advanced Autoparts and others sell both the upper ball joint and the upper control arm assembly. Can I buy just the ball joint and press it into the existing control arm or do I have to buy the control arm assembly.

The ball joint/control arm are 1 complete assembly for the uppers. The lowers can be replaced, but you gotta do some grinding. Buy the MOOG Problem Solvers, they have grease zerks and are the closest to OEM you get without going OEM. I always advise folks to steer clear of AZ because the clowns up there don't know what they are talking about.

I appreciate it! I will just go get the control arm assembly. I have never done this before, what am I getting myself into? How do I go about changing it out?

If the ones you have now are stock then they are more than likely stuck in there like mine were. Buy yourself a good ball joint separator because if you havn't done tie rods and sway bar links then those are sure to be next unless your truck is in mint condition. I have included links to parts below...

Here's a link for the torque specs on everything, midway down...
