Replacing my lower control arms soon. In all of the videos I’ve seen of them being replaced the whole knuckle was removed. Is this necessary or can I get away with unbolting the lower control arm from the truck, knuckle and strut. I’ve replaced upper control arms myself but never lower control arms. Just seeing if this is necessary or if I can save myself some extra work.

Possible? Most likely. Easiest way to go about it? Idk, you'll just have to report back after you try it.

Assuming you have a 4x4, that wouldn't be possible because the cv shaft would be in the way of removing the lower ball joint. It's really not much extra work at all to remove the knuckle. Good time to do wheel bearings too depending how old yours are.

Yes, you must remove the knuckle in order to get the lower control arm.
