I am looking to get new tires. My tires that came with my truck lost me 3 mpg... when i put them on - 275/70R20s. So they have to go. So i am looking for tires like these -Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO 2- or these -Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac- or -WILD TRAC LTR MAX-

What are the best tires? Fuel efficiency is a good part of my choice but i also want them long lasting and good with mud and snow.

Toyo Open Country A/T II in a 275/65/20. You lose a little in the tire height but that helps in other area like reducing the wheel/tire weight compared to what you have now. It should also help a little in the power department. The Open Country A/T II has a 65,000 mile tread wear warranty too so that covers your long lasting.

Specifically, you go from a 35" tire to a 34" tire and go from around 91lbs per tire/wheel combo to around 88lbs. Not a huge difference but it all adds up in the end. Braking and power will be better and you should see a gain in mpg as well. The only way to get more is to go to an even smaller tire or swap to 17 or 18" wheels.

I put a set of these (although smaller) on my daughter's '91 Toyota pickup and she loves them. This is probably the tire I go with on my truck after I lift it and change to 17 or 18" rims.

Thanks, those look like great tire also. I will be looking into them more!! I also am going to be going to 17 or 18 inch rims.... I like a bit biger side wall then the 20''s have. Personal preference i guess:)

I love my Goodyear Silent Armor. Aggressive looks, nice ride, very quiet for an aggressive all terrain tire. They were great in the snow and ice too.

Take a look at this handy little tool then. Great for figuring out what you want to go with next, especially since you are changing both wheels and tires.

Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com

The stock 20s are nice, but damn are they heavy! dropping to a 17 or 18" rim will shave a bunch of weight off, even with a tire around the same height you have now. And I agree, the taller sidewall gives a much better ride and looks better on a taller truck.

Playing around with that tool some, using your current tire/wheel size.

Assuming you have the stock 20x9 wheels:
275/70x20 = 35.2" tall, 10.8" wide and weighs around 91lbs

Drop down to a 17x9 rim:
285/75x17 = 33.9" tall, 11.2" wide and weighs around 82lbs

9lbs lighter per tire/wheel combo is huge. Still almost a 34" tall tire but also a little bit wider.

Going check those tires out also for me, I am lifting soon and wanting to put 35s on my 20's and need something good in dry/wet/snow weather. Not to worried about mpgs since I'm downgrading from beefy 22's.

Im wonder what matters more: less weight or narrower tires for fuel efficiency?

Toyo has those in either a 35x12.50x20 or 295/65x20 :favorites13:

The A/T II's on my daughter's Toyota are at almost 20k miles and the tread still looks new. They drive real nice too.

Might be dumb question, but what is the size of the 295/65/20 as in inches (like 35", 34", etc)

I have been looking at tires and reviews....it seems that some people love some tires and other have a great dislike for the same tire in the same conditions.... I am kinda heading to toyos.... I like the miles you can get on them. Also what is more economical to buy - 17' or 18" rims?

I love the 17's. Not too big, not too small. Just right.
I think the bigger wheels look goofy unless you have like a 6" lift or something. And I hate the fact that these trucks with the 20" wheels come with the hoopty street tires.

17" will be slightly cheaper on both rims and tires for the most part.

I have to agree with you there!! My winter tires are on 17" and i like them. They look good on there, these 20''s look not good at all!!
