Who has plastidipped there rims? Is there any drawbacks? Like i wouldnt have to redo every so often? I'm trying to find a cheap way to make my rims black instead of them chrome. If anyone has any other ideas let me know thx.

So easy , If you go off road you may have to redo then after a few times . but with plastic dip its so easy just peel it of in secs and re spray ... its definitely the easiest way to give your rims the look you want.. a lot you don't have to tape off your tires because any over spray just peels off .

But will the heat from my brakes and stuff cause it to peel? And do I have to any prep work to my rims?

The heat doesn't bother it. At least it didn't on mine and Texas summers are pretty damn hot lol.
As far as prep, just make sure they're clean and dry. I'd recommend a good coat of wax a couple of days before you're gonna dip them to help in the removal process if you decide you don't like the matte black look

From what I understand the more the better...the thicker it is, easier to peel off when the time comes. But while I have used P'dip...I haven't done rims yet so you might want someone to chime in that has...

Yes the thicker it is, the easier it is to take off. I put around 4-5 layers on my rims

Also cleaning. If I clean them like normal (soap and water) will I have to redo the dip?

I have taken a pressure washer to it, and nothing happened. Been through tons of car washes also

Same here. My bumpers are holding up really well too and they've been pressure washed quite a few times

You gunna do them on base? i wouldn't mind seeing them once you get them taken care of. Might do that to my rims in the future, could be an easy way to both protect the chrome, and give me some black rims.

I used 2 cans for all four wheels. Did it a couple months ago and its held up well. Washed and scrubbed em several times and they still look good

I Plasti Dipped mine. Theyre holding up good. Can be washed, powerwashed, etc like everyone else said. Mine seem to be holding up good through the weather and minor off road use. Just make sure you protect your paint on the truck from the over spray. You dont really have to cover the tires if you dont want to because it will fall off the tires over time any ways from the rubber expanding. And just make sure to do the first coat light. Theres plenty of vids on youtube. The more coats, the better. I think i did like 7 on mine.

Here's my setup llol
