Has anyone painted the upper dash?

Has anyone removed the part where the defroster comes out and painted it? I've painted the bezel for the radio and by the speedo cluster I was wondering how this would look painted? Anyone done it ?

I've seen one where it was attempted and it looked horrible shortly after it was done.

I saw one smoothed and glassed and professionally done along with the rest of the dash and it looked great.

Yea I was thinking it wouldn't look to great over time with the direct sun but I used wheel paint on my belzel since it was the closest silver I had to the truck. I'll see if I can find a used one and if I can I'll paint the spare so I can swap it out if I wanna.
