So i have been after this tick for a year now and i finally fixed it. I have done timing chains, lash adjusters, replaced both heads etc..... It turned out to be piston #1. The wrist pin was bored of center .0030. So i replaced it and got the engine and heads cleaned and the #1 bore honed. And put it together. I ran it without the spark plugs in to get oil kinda throughout the engine. Start her up and she now runs smother and quieter then ever!!

Good job! And I hope you mean you cranked it over without the plugs in it so it didnt start in order to prime the oil pump?
