Oreillys Auto - 3 times I have had the auto rep behind the counter sell me the wrong oil filter.
It's a 2008, Dodge Ram, 1500 , with a 5.7 liter Hemi

The MOPAR oil filter that always comes up is a MO-899 - Which is INCORRECT! The inside diameter is larger than the correct one.

The correct number should be MO-090

I've tried explaining that they NEED to get this matter resolved, I'm sure I'm not the only one, unless these fools are entering the incorrect information... That's another story.

Again, just an FYI for all you that change your oils at home and may run across this issue with Oreillys Auto.

No problem, my pleasure. And if they tell you differently (like the assistant manager did with me today) just tell them to pack sand. ;)

Mopar changed filter size in 08, it's different from 03-07. Mopar 0899 is correct for 08. 090 is correct for 03-07. The filter changed from a 3/4 standard thread to a 22mm threaded attachment. They are correct

Then why doesn't the MO-899 fit my 08'? Something must be different....

Does it not fit completely or just screw on looser with some slack in the threads? Weird, I suppose it is completely possible you have the 090 from an earlierr production

When I tried screwing on the 899 it was loose on the threads. The 090 was the correct one for my vehicle.

We just did an oil change today on a friends 2008, he had the 899 but we used something different if I recall. Like a 210!

My bad! Nevermind. He went with a Mobil filter, it's the M1-210.. just looked at some pics he posted on Facebook. Sorry.. But he had the 899..

2wd or 4wd?

I know Autozone has the wrong battery listed for the 2014 Ram 2500's. I have emailed them to advise. I had to get one for a 2013 to fit my 2014. The 2014 battery they listed was almost 14.5" wide and doesn't fit in the tray!

M1-210 cross references to 899 Mopar

Original owner? If so, was it a early production build that may have just been a one off?

If the 45° adapter was installed that comes with the bigger one. I found this out the hard way lol...

Just don't be a dumdum and ask for an MO-090. If they have a problem with you asking for a specific part number you need to find a different supplier.

I would have guessed the filter changeover from the standard threads to metric was with the vvt changeover to the eagle series engine. Aka 2009 1500's. I have an 07. Takes the same filter as my old roadrunner, dart drag car. And every other old mopar sb.
Father has a 2012. Has the metric filter.
If you have a 3rd gen, 08, i would have automatically assumed it was the standard. So in your case...I woulda got the right filter via my incorrect assumption.lol
