That's going to be a pain, but doable. I still need to get an antenna. I will probably just go with a Lil' Wil for now.

Oh that's the one I have! Couldn't remember the name. For its size, it's an EXCELLENT antenna. Really stoked on it. I would be happy to get a bigger one later on but this serves my purposes just fine

Wait, maybe not. I'll have to look and let you know later lol. Online says effective range is 2-4 miles but I know for a fact I've communicated further than that by a large margin

Received my antenna today and did the temp install, avoiding getting the coax pinched. Ain't tested it yet but took pics to show you how I routed the coax .

Does the end of your coax have a removable plug or is it fixed?

Cheers. After looking at the roof shots , i should have routed the coax fromt mag mount to rear brake light then window then along the black roof trim to the B pillar lol.

The wilson 1000 coax end plug is removable . Thus made it easier to fish it thru hole.

I'm looking at export non fcc cb units now lol.na stryker , magnum or general lee perhaps? Nice wattage lol

Im going nuts, just ordered a cobra 29lx. So the original cb was 28$ plus original antenna was 13$. Now Wilson 1000 and today cobra . **** .future amps and modded exports variants perhaps?

Cb

Not tried my set up yet but i routed my coax behind the dash, under console, under seat and up behind it..When i wanna use it i just pull the ant out mount it on the roof via slideing rear window. ..

My radio is the sexy stryker 447hpc2....Antenna is a mag mounted sirio performer 5000 with lmr 240 coax upgrade...
Hpc2 is smaller than a cobra with ballz and more options and tuned with a ranger sr198 mic all done by mark sherman of fine tune cb..
Hpc2 is not a sideband radio but has huge freq range...
When i want sideband i jump in my big rig with my stryker 955..

Ok so your ***** bigger than mine ( joking , maybe even in reality ) LOL [emoji2]

I was trying to gently ease myself back into the CB scene again, I'm gonna see how i get along with my current setup before anymore upgrades and such. Yes, i was wieghing up the idea of an "export" or modded 10m radio, but wasnt sure which ones or which ones needed what mods to work on 11m AM. Hence just figured id get a half decent radio with a relevant decent antenna to start me off of.

Now, i might even get a RM KL203P later.

Issue i have now is power wiring it up, currenly using cigar plug, but the cobra 29lx has a always power on system meaning it powers on for weather or other monkey business by itself. Wiring this directly to battery might be an issue ref battery drain unless some sort of switch is used to be able to cut complete power.

That Sirio one was pulled off easily on that video I saw, the eastern block fella with the purple Lada car.

Would putting the aerial on roof via door work on our ram trucks?

You gotta remember that the whip was well past 90 before the mag moved..Just picked up my whip for my sirio so ill be testing it out in a day or two...Unless your doin 180 mph i doubt your gonna have to worry...Even if you dont like that one use a pl259 type adapter and get a tri mag..

Another roof mount idea....This would be my only other option over "EVERY" other option but i dont wanna be cuttin holes in my trk..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBEVwzo53J8

Bigger dik...Awww with a hunny like the one in your avatar, who tally wacker WOULDNT grow!!..lol

I have been installing through the roof mounted NMO mounts since 1979, and have never had an issue or leak. I pulled down the overhead console to locate the cross brace so I would miss it when I drilled the 3/4" hole in the roof. I ended up drilling the hole 26" back from the top edge of the windshield. Then pulled the cable to the left a-pillar through the opening with the console out. Then mounted the ham rig under the ignition switch. This mount will accept ant antenna from CB to GPS.

Nah mate, i dont remember the last time i went over 70mph, so that wont be an issue.

Need some ideas about directly battery powering CB and linear amp and other devices in future. Think it'll look messy running two sets of wires to battery, is there some sort of junction box or something to allow devices to be connected to the battery cleanly and safely?

Then CB pretty straightforward to battery , but the linear amp approx 12 amp to battery with fused at battery and direct ground on battery also. Thoughts? Will look like a **** storm of wires .

Ps changed the CB again , reason . Wanted a user adjustable rf power ( not gain) dial so that i can use a kicker linear amp rm kl200p or 203p without messing with internal pots on CB to reduce dead key and swing to below 2W approximately for amp input to be safe.

Well it may look a bit messy but its the best way to power your stuff..To make it look better under the hood just use wire loom..Something like this.https://www.google.ca/search?q=wire...loom&tbm=shop&spd=9037292444652566906....Heck i have seen guys use colored stuff to dress up the coolant hoses and pwr steering n such with this stuff..
Ive got those harness loommcovers already, wanted a method like a junction box or something to connect multiple devices to truck battery cleanly. The bussman marine 6 or 12 input versions seems ok i read. But issue is gonna be making sure amp and cb is off before leaving truck else ill run the battery dry on truck. Thus thinking perhaps a switch also.

In my old Sierra I mounted a marine fuse box on the fuse cover in the engine bay (mostly for auxiliary lights). I think it had like 10-12 connections each with their own fuse. Had the power to the marine fuse box from the battery and in-line fuse. Would take hardly any work to run a toggle to the cab to cut off power to that whole marine box.

Right need some ideas on a large CB location install ( Stryker 955) even if it needs to be fabricated in somewhere which seems likely.
Otherwise only the place is center top where ram logo is but that would be an issue with heat and not discrete either.

I was thinking the part under the driver knee area, that trim has 2 screws bolted into a steel hole, perhaps using those steel holes to create a beam or base for cb to live in?
