hi,
I installed some components in my 2016 1500 with the base radio (not Alpine, but 8" touchscreen with sat radio)
the fronts don't seem to get full range at all. I did disconnect the dash speakers and connected the components to the door output.
any thoughts on how to get full range out of my d or speakers?

The audio systems in these truck are complex even in the base models. In order for you to get a full range signal you will need a summing unit. None of the channels on these trucks produce a full range signal.

The base audio system front speakers are wired straight from the head unit. The dash speakers are wired in parallel to the doors.
Any sound processing is done in the head unit.

Non-Alpine systems are full signal, all 4 channels. You just might not be driving the new components with enough wattage to get a full sound. Another thing to look at would be the crossover. Is the crossover you are using blocking signal at say 80Hz and down? I would doubt that but something to double check.

In your system, they should all be getting a full range signal. I have the same setup, and added my amps and upgraded the speakers.

What speakers did you replace the OEM ones with?

Thanks, I added Focal 6.5 components with tweeters in the sails. I left the dash speakers disconnected

If that is your mounting ring, that could be your issue. Seal and secure that up for better lower end response. I've learned over the years, an improper speaker mount can make a great speaker sound lousy.

Did you "break" apart the factory speaker to make those "adapters"? Also please tell me that you are using an amp also? If not you really wasted your money on some nice speakers.

I’d recommend using something like this. Would make for a much nicer installation. These will only set you back about 10 bucks.

Full range is 20 to 20. even though you may have a full range signal the system is not capable of playing certain frequencies due to lack of power. (This is how my mind works) If in theory you have a full range signal then you should be able to in practice connect a subwoofer to the front or rear with a low pass filter and get your sub bass, but your factory system doesn't have the power to do this. Your focal speakers want more power ....get yourself a decent 4 channel amp or 5 channel if you're running a sub.

You need to change out that mounting ring, to a plate and seal off the back from the front of the speaker.
