Is there anything inside your box which could have become loose inside the box? Is the sub loose in its box at all?
If you press EVENLY on the cone downward, does it feel like it's scratching on anything on the way down?
A ticking makes me think it's blown (bad voice coil).

When does it tick? I heard loose tinsel leads that do this but I haven't heard much on kicker having this problem. Other thing is like before maybe piece of junk got into the box.

Check that the screws holding the sub into the box are all tight (and all accounted for,) I had a noise coming from mine a while ago, but it was because the sub wasn't totally secured down and I had to tighten it up!

Could be some debris in the voicecoil too, not trying to assume you blew it :emotions133:

Maybe the coil is unwinding.

You can blow an L7 with 500w if its a clipped signal which is very easy to do.

Could be many things. Mechanical tick could be from spider, or voicecoil. You can blow a sub easy off 500 watts, or make one last off a clean 1000w.

Do you still have your receipt from Kicker dealer, and is it under 1 year?

There are SOOOOOOOO many options pit there. not just the mainstream stuff all the chain stores carry.
DD's 6.5" sub would blow your mind, given its size and space requirements.

my L7s sound great i have about .71cu and the minimum is .66 so it barely meets the requirements but i put cotton in there to make the sub think there is more space and i easily have the cleanest system at my school everyone there just throws 15s on there back seat with 300 watts and they are homemade boxes where the subs barely fit heck i have seen the back of a sub poking out of a box for space reasons the kid said lol

ya airspce makes a huge different

Any reasonable discussion should assume at least meeting RMS power rating, internal space requirements and enclosure build quality needs are met or exceeded.

My vote is an audio pipe aspm 1500 which clamp to close to rated power and go find a couple of the new sundown SD series subwoofers and bang the crap out of them. If they blow recones can be had for next to nothing. The only reason I suggest this is you are very young this will save you money in the long run and you can figure out what sounds good without breaking the bank. Kicker does have good products and so do most other main stream companies but for the money there are some other good solutions out there too.

Can be, the new CL line or whatever they are calling it is having some quality issues thats for sure. Their mini amps aren't bad at all, but you put up with fan noise and you don't get crazy with the gain. For 120 bucks I don't know of a better deal, but if there is no budget yeah I would go with something else for sure.
