I had to buy a bezel for the OEM navigation unit. Set me back about $140. May be cheaper on eBay but my stepdad is a bodyshop manager, so I went with Dodge.

One question, Where'd you get the neat little double din frame thing? the one that you bondo'd in there?

I have a Pioneer double din in my 08. Had to get a new bezel for the install but other then that no major problems.

Not the greatest pic but this is mine.

The piece was from a install kit ...It was an old one I just had laying around. Think from a 2007 mustang

Yes bondo... The bezel is really easy. There is a video for it on you tube. Search double din ram conversion. A guy named weedwhacker or something like that. I'm at work or is look it up myself

Seems like a lot of work. There are simpler solutions out there if you don't want to DIY - and if you don't mind spending a few bucks.

I found these on eBay:

Dodge RAM 2002 2003 2004 2005 1500 2500 3500 Double DIN Navigation 2DVD | eBay

Just swap this piece in in place of your factory one. Then you'll just need to modify the radio pocket and you are done.

Those are actually mine listing you see on ebay. I have all kinds of colors in carbon fiber, animal print, color shifting, micro and medium metallics, 2 stage custom paints and of course all kinds of prints and patterns through hydro dipping

Btw, bondo is NOT what you want to use. Although it is a filler, is should never be used for more than 1/8" of it will cracked. Also, cheaper body fillers will shrink over curating time so if you paint over it, you will likely see issues in the paint after a few weeks. Same goes for some cheaper putty and glaze.

You could glass it. That would be better than 1/4" of any bondo. I use a military grade metal epoxy with a special ABS gridded backpiece for extra "bite" and adhesive.

Ive tried all kinds of materials, fillers, epoxys and adhesives over the years and I have had no issues since our last changes almost 1 year ago. Cheaper vinyls you should also stay away from. Most are less than paper thin (seriously) and the adhesives suck! I use nothing but 3M and Avery films. There are different kinds of films also like "calender" and "cast". Some bend and flex or stretch. Others do not. As with anything, there is an art, science and education behind it all.

Speaking of which, not to thread jack but hopefully to add to the thread, I had a good bit of chrome film if anyone is interested ;)
