Hi all :D
I'm going to start at the beginning :( so maybe someone will be able to help without me spending over $1,000 at dealership.
Electrical problems ( I think started when truck was shipped). Truck was shipped from Texas to Hawaii. When we picked it up at the warehouse all seemed fine, about one mile out of warehouse the truck died, battery had no power. Soon after jump start worked sort of okay but was running rough.
We thought it was due to it not being run for almost a month. Then it died again, battery was dead again. Got a battery from AAA.
So about a week ago we noticed that the tail lights didn't turn off when truck was turned off. At the same time we noticed that the parking light on the driver side was out. Water was in the case where the lights are housed. Light was fixed but the lights didn't turn off. Dash was still saying light was out.
We looked on line to see if we could find out what was the issue. My son found a posting on the forums stating that it was a wire in the power distribution center that burned out, but the posting didn't cover how to open the case to fix the problem.
We couldn't find anymore information on it here so we looked on google and found a fix it post on youtube about the same thing only instead of opening the power box he ran the wire from the outside. The wire is run from the 15th slot of the power control center to the 87th point which is a prong on the relay. That only worked on the front lights; figured that out when we replaced the light switch; my idea since " I figured since its the parking lights ; and the light switch controls those also" ... enough said.
We tried that but now the front parking lights won't turn off. :( .
We waited a couple of days and tried to turn on the truck but the battery died again, and we didn't leave the ground connected so we wouldn't have a dead battery.
HELP please.
We have 2004 Quad cab v8. last 8 of vin: 4j208729
Thank you in advance.

Leaving as reply instead of editing.
Yay!! Found issue. I noticed when I posted forgot to mention that we had a brake assist on the truck. That was what was left on during transport and killed battery. It was also the culprit on the light situation. I'm guessing that during the time the wire casings either rubbed together or melted, whichever but there was almost 2 inches of bare wires under the hood, that belonged to the brake assist. Disconnected the wires from where they were connected under the hood and under the dash. Luckily this was the issue and our truck is now able to go out again :D
I hope this helps others out there who might end up with the same issue but it may not be the power distribution box.
Have a good one :)
