Have a 2009 Ram, the Electric Range Select shifts on its own...just goes into 4th every couple of minutes...and then cant change it up or down..must turn truck off and restart and goes back to normal for couple of miles then changes again .... any ideas

the electric range shift isn't like most shiftable transmissions. when you put it in lets say 3rd gear, it doesn't stay in 3rd gear. what your doing is pretty much limiting what gear it can reach. so the truck would still use 1st and second like normal but wont go in 4th. so it will shift on its own. now for it messing up and you needing to turn it off and back on is beyond me. but to help you understand look up your tansmission. it should be the 545rfe. its a good tranny but it works weird. youll find it interesting that its a 5speed auto with 6 forward gears
