I have now purchased 2 gas caps and tried them out and I still get this code. Where do I need to start looking now. I can clear it and it takes about 3 days or so to pop back up. Thanks in advance for any help.

good luck. I also have the same code that when removed takes it a week or so to come back on. I also have replaced the cap as well as had a local repair shop replace a few items. The code remains.

This is for a small evaporative leak.

- Missing or loose fuel cap
- Incorrect fuel filler cap used
- Fuel filler cap remains open or fails to close
- Foreign matter caught in fuel filler cap
- Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister or fuel tank leaks
- Evaporative Emission (EVAP) system hose leaking
- Fuel tank leaking

If you have replaced the gas cap twice already and the code appears only three days after replacing it sounds as if there is something else going on. You could get a smoke test performed on the evap system to check for any loose hoses, or cracks in the hoses due to age.

I've had the same code since I bought my truck two years ago. I checked all the lines, at least as much as I could see from underneath. I replaced the gas cap and the NLVD, but the code always came back.

Someone suggested I check to see if the flapper valve is still in the filler neck. I looked and there's nothing there. Can someone verify if these trucks have that flapper valve? I'd hate to spend $50 on a new filler neck and find out that's just how they are. I took a picture of what mine looks like presently.

Ok, thanks for letting me know. So much for that idea. Guess I need to take the EVAP canister down and see what the connections on the top if it look like.

Anybody tried to change the leak detection pump? I found one for about 20$. But when I call dealership they say they only sell it with the canister for around 200$. Can I replace the pump on my 2007 4.7 ram 1500 or do I have to do the whole thing?

It's a white module. With a hose and a plug coming out of it. I saw it at auto zone as well. Can't figure out why the dealership won't sell it individually.
