Hello,

I drive a 1998 1500, 5.9 360. The trucks transmission and T-case are now completely toast. I have found a 1996 parts ram, with a blown 5.2 motor, that a guy will sell me for $500. I am confused as to whether this will be a bolt-out / bolt-in swap. Am I able to just take my 1999 5.9 and put it in the 5.2's place without tranny swap or anything else? Thank you for any help

It should bolt right on, I do not believe the bolt pattern changed between engines, the year however has a very slight chance to change something. Just take a picture of yours and try to compare it to the one the guy is selling.

Others on here will know for sure, as I only have a 2wd, but I believe they should be a direct swap. I think the 96's were using the 46RE by that point instead of the 46RH.
