My guess is a roller bearing from the pinion gear.

Pieces from differential
I was thinking that at first as well but the diameter is small like a bushing, it's 3/4" diameter, 2 halves. I've looked in books and videos but I don't see anything that small. Anyone any idea.

I initially thought bushing as well, but I cant think of what would use a plastic bushing in the differential.
One possibility is something from the clutch pack if you have the limited slip.

I don't remember from when I replaced the clutch pack on mine what it really looked like. I was in a rush to get it back together while I had access to a lift.

if im not mistaken thats the same issue MANY 3rd gens ran into, its the clips, do not ignore that, you need to deal with that asap
