Aloha everyone!! New to this forum. Got some questions
My truck 01 5.9 v8 4wd Chrysler 9.25 rear
I recently destroyed the differential
Can I swap it with a 2000 2wd ram rear??
What trucks have this axle??
Which ones are interchangeable with out to many mods??
Any info would be a big help!!!

Any half ton, 2 or 4wd, will swap directly in I believe. Idk if the year will make a difference tho. Nice looking truck btw

There's a little plug for the speedo sensor that's a little different, but we just wired it directly in instead. Should be the same from a 01-00, make sure you get the correct gear ratio in that rear end though. probably gonna need new u-bolts, I had to get mine custom made personally, and might as well put in new shocks while you're at it.

On the rear diff there might be a yoke or a flange to attach the rear ds but these can be swapped out.

Thanks merc!! Sorry for all the questions!! But here's another, since I'm gonna start buying spare parts and such. Are the inners of a 95 1500 rear (differential case) the Danes as my 01. Could I bolt in the inners and just reset backlash on pinion?? Thanks again for the support

A friend of mine offered to give me his old 95 2wd work truck. It runs , curious as to what parts I could salvage from it

Yes

Any 9.25 diff parts will work in your 9.25 diff.

And also just found front and rear axle from a 2001 Ram 2500 wheels and all for $500 is it worth the swap for my 01 1500 4x4?

No 2nd gen 1500 has rear disc brakes.

Yes good deal on the axles and a very worth while swap.

Front axle is direct bolt-in, and your lift parts will work fine. Since I saw you're planning a 5" bds long arm, I would do both at the same time. I would replace all front end components while the axle is out of the truck, much easier that way.

Rear is a bit trickier, the rear leaf spring perches are wider on the 2500 than on the 1500. You have 2 options, 1 is to replace the 2500 3" perches with 2.5" 1500 perches. IIRC you will have to move the perches inward 1/2" on both sides to line up correctly. Or 2 is to replace the leaf hangars on your 1500 frame with 2500 leaf hangars and use the 3" leafs. With option 1 you can use your lift parts, with option 2 you can't. Choice is up to you. Hope that helps ya some.

Ok great it looks like it would be easier to replace the rear leafs with the 2500 instead i have 5'' blocks in the rear so i can just use new u bolts and my blocks right?

And i already know to upgrade to 2500 axles will make a big difference in stopping these 35'' tires

No you can't. 2500 stuff with 2500 stuff, 1500 stuff with 1500 stuff. You can retain your rear lift parts with the 1500 springs, not with the 2500 springs. It is actually easier to just use your 1500 leafs. Grab a set of perches from a dealer (they're cheap) and swap em on your Dana 60/70 rear. You also have to remember even if you swap the springs you still legally are a 1500 and cannot tow or haul 2500 ratings.

A very big difference yes. If you have a 2500 4x4 parts truck swap the t-case into your 1500 as well. Great upgrade.

I really want a NV4500 trans with it all as well make my truck a 5 speed but would need the whole truck for gauges and wiring harness and ECU and petals and Can i not set up all to the 2500 rear and use my blocks that i already had have 3 inch wide leafs and lift the back with blocks?

Best to just grab a parts truck for the swap.

IIRC no you can't because the blocks are different for 1500 and 2500. Your 1500 springs are 2.5" wide and the 2500 are 3" wide, the blocks are made to fit those specific sizes. Thats like trying to put a 2.5" spring on a 3" perch, its not safe. IMO blocks are a poor way to lift at any rate, a 3" lift Add a leaf is way better for what you're looking to do. Skyjacker makes one for both widths of leaf spring.

Merc225hp on here has done this swap and used the 1500 leafs on his 2500 rear. He has had no issues doing it that way and has a 7" suspension lift.

ok when i order the BDS lift i want to tell them its for a 2500 that way i can get new leafs and all. I see what your saying about the blocks i know its not the best way but for now i tow nothing and only street use so i will see about just buying the axles and all and when i get the big money for the new lift ill just do it all at once and is the limited slip better in th Dana 60 as compared to the 9.25 i have?
