Seems like it should work, you will need a new ecu/wiring harness, possibly flywheel, and new air filter set up. But I think the motor mounts are the same. I'd love to see pictures of you decide to go for it!

Uuhhh....no. Very very different. Would have to fab motor mounts, run entirely new fuel system for carb, new ignition, new trans, new driveshaft. Ultimately you'd spend more than either vehicle or engine is worth just to run an under powered archaic design of an already archaic engine.

No. No no no and no.

Find another V6 or a V8 parts truck and do it that way. As Peppy said it'll be way more trouble than it's worth to rig a 70s LA block in the truck than to do it the right way.

A friend did this. He had a 94 Ram 2500 with a running 318 Mag/ Trans/ T-case.
I swapped him my totaled 79 Ramcharger 360/727/NP208 (Yes 208, It was a swap I did) and he gave me his drive train for mine. He did get it running. He also swapped out the coil front Dana 60 for my leaf spring Dana 44, Swapped out the rear Dana 70 for a Dana 60. Nobody accused him of being smart. Truck never saw the street again. It never got finished.
Wish I took his diffs but I didn't.
