Does it make a difference if I just cut the old.muffler off and
on a 40 series compared to a cat back 40 serries
I feel weird driving an truck with a stock exhaust and this must be done haha
Will it sound good?
And would a 40 series sound loud or a 50 series would be louder

I just had my exhaust done from the Y-pipe back with a hi-flow cat, 40 series flow and all 3" single pipe and it sounds great.

I'm on a little budget right now
So I would only cut the stock muffler and weld on a flow master in place on stock pipe
Maybe with a turn down

When I bought my truck it had a toasted cat and a 40 in it already and the exhaust stopped right after the 40. With the bad cat I couldn't pass smog so I had it done. Cost me a whopping $250 cause I reused the 40. Could of welded it in myself as I'm a welder by profession but I didn't feel like doing it lol.

Did it have a good loud growl with just the 40 serries
I had only the 40 on my f150 and it was loud enough for my girlfriends dad to ***** at me when I left in the middle of night haha
But that was only the 4.6

Yeah it sounds better on my neighbours hemi then it did on my Ford thou
Does replacing the stock pipe from the cat to the muffler make a difference thou

I just put A 40 series muffler on my truck today, Cut the old muffler off and put the 40 series on and pieced together a side pipe, The truck sounds really good. Nice deep tone, But not overly loud. If you would like I can post a video up tomorrow of what it sounds like.

I was originally going to put a 40 series on my truck but i decided to just do a muffler delete and put a straight pipe. It sounds great and was cheap. I highly recommend this if you wanna go cheap.

Are our mufflers clamped on or welded
Can I remove the clamps and slide off the muffler and clamp a pipe there

If its clamped right you wont just be able to undo the clamps and slide it off, most likely you will have to either cut the muffler, or cut the pipe that goes from the cat to the muffler.

Or if you have a torch handy, you can heat the muffler up with the clamps removed and bash it off with a sledge hammer. ....Cutting it with a angle grinder and a hack saw worked the best for me.
