Hey all. Long story short, a guy sold me an engine that ended up not being the one we discussed. He knows it and now so do I, now that im 2.5 hours away from the boondock town where I bought it. It was supposed to be a 1998 5.9 360. Its definitely 98 or later because it has EGR.

I bought it to fix it up while its out of the truck and then drop it in to replace my fried motor thats in there now. Super low oil pressure, burns it like an MF even after the intake repair. Its a 227K motor.

How can I be sure he even sold me a 360 and not a 318? My own stupid fault for not paying more attention...it was $300.

I had to swap the harmonic balancer from the spare motor onto mine thats in my truck now. It was the exact same if that means anything.

Thanks all.

Egr was only 94 and 95....

Can look for the weighted damper on the front side or if you're gonna rebuild it anyways pull a head and measure the bore

And being a 94-5, it has the stupid divided intake in it.

Really? Dammit...

I pulled the weighted damper off the other day and had to put it on my motor in my truck now. Mine broke off somehow.

Guess ill pull a head now.

Do you mean the wall down the center of the intake?

on older, LA engines the displacement was cast into the left side of the block, with numbers over an inch big. The actual block serial no is stamped just below the left head surface, front of the block.
