I'm considering painting all the black plastics on my truck (minus fenderwells), talking mirrors, handles, wiper valence, and bumper trim (2nd gen), but I've heard mixed things... Some people are saying if you do it right the paint will stick and i've seen a lot that look good, but a buddy of mine who's been a professional paint man for 30 years told me it will never stick and will flake in less than a year... opinions?

Prep prep prep prep... always keep that in mind.

If its sanded well and use a good primer. It will last. Use a good clear coat to protect it and you'll be good.

If you use an adhesion promoter it will stick. I have painted lots of plastics and still holding strong. I know JJ (0212353) used some good stuff when he was doing the painting of his retros.

I have dash pieces, door handles, taillights, and my old intake. Now getting the colors to match, well I am still working on that part.

You wouldn't believe it.......but the SEM stuff does not require an adhesion promoter.

SEM makes some very high quality products.

I've painted many things with good primmer, lots of sanding, and they are still holding up strong over 10 years later. I don't believe your paint guy for a minute.

JJ, I know this is an unrelated question, but I have a set of the ebay one piece headlights and the aim on them is extremely screwy.. they are several inches off and I'm blinding other drivers. I can't find an adjustment screw either. Any advice?

With those you may have to use some washers to shim it.
