Hey y'all,

Got some pretty exciting news. I am working with stainless works exhaust to install a set of 304 ss 1 3/4 in primary long tube headers, dual rear side exit exhaust, with x pipe and chambered or s tube mufflers. I cannot decide which sound I like the most. The chambered is raspier and slightly higher pitch where as the s tube is throaty and deep as hell. The chambered is also slightly quieter than the s tube.

I will keep y'all posted on the progress. It is going to take quite some time but the end product will be worth it. Give me your opinions as to what style muffler I should have installed.

Go with the S tube.. The deeper the tone the better IMO, make that thing sound like a boat!

haha. I already have a boat. And it does sound damn good. However, the s tubes are louddddd thats my biggest fear is for it to be obnoxious. We will see. The chambered has a db rating in the low to mid 80s at 2000 RPM where as the s tube has a rating in the low to mid 90s at same RPM. Does this change your opinion? I agree that deep tone is better. But in this application I dont know if it will be too loud. Let me know what you think man

I've got a cutout in mine and I like that it gives me the option to be loud when I want and then I have the 18" magnaflow when I don't want to be as obnoxious.. I'm really not too sure how to compare those decibel ratings so I can't give you an opinion based on that.. Any sound clips of both online that you could link to?

Not of both. But I do have it for the headers with turbo chambered.

Dodge Ram Headers and Exhaust - Before and After - YouTube

watch from 2:30 to 3:05 the last in that side by side comparison is the turbo chambered with headers. Now add another 10 dbs lol

The s tube, the second in that comparison, is rated in the mid 70s, thats without headers

I love the sound of the s tube. And the turbo chambered sounds good as well just not quite as good. But the db rating is where I want it. Something in the 92 to 95 range is probably going to be quite obnoxious, as with the headers and s tube mufflers.

I think I really prefer the sound of the S-Tube over the chambered muffler. Regarding whether or not it'll be obnoxious, the tone in the S-Tube is less obnoxious than the higher tone of the chambered muffler, so I think it will be fine

Well once this is done. I plan doing 2.5 in spacer up front and 1.5" progressive leaf rear. With dual steering stabilizers and steering box stabilizer.

And when I need tires, I'll put on a 3" body lift and slap on 40s. Lol

I'll keep the 37s til I need tires. Then 40s with the body!
