I've built some bumpers for my Power wagon. Does anyone know how much weight we can mount on the front of these trucks? They are built to have a plow so they should be able to handle a heavy bumper. Your info. and thoughts pls.

last I heard there was a sticker on the drivers door jam. that's where I would look for answers. the differential will handle plenty of weight but the springs are another matter. plows beat the hell out of the truck. why not buy a old piece of crap f350 with solid axle and mount the plow ? I feel bad for the sucker that ends up buying your truck if you ever sell it

Actually, I don't intend on using a plow, I built a couple of bad ass bumpers.

at first it sounded like you were installing a plow. of course the truck would handle it but i dont think the springs would be very happy. but again, plows are extremely hard on the vehicle regardless how heavy duty it is. you should be fine with that bumper but check the door tag and see what it says. from what i can tell in the pics, your aproach angle clearance has now gone down the toilet but i suppose your already aware of that.

Power Wagon springs are weak compaired to the axles, with that kind of weight hanging out there I would suggest heavier springs

I'm using tapatalk so I can't see your signature and don't know the species of your truck. But if you google it, you can find the tow carts that cover your vehicle. Something like this: https://www.ramtrucks.com/assets/towing_guide/pdf/2016_ram_2500_towing_charts.pdf

You will see the front axle base weight, and front axle GAWR. the difference between the two is how much you could add directly to the front axle. But keep in mind. Some fraction of all Payload affects the load on the front axle too.
For example, Looking at a couple of configurations on the chart I attached, I see that 1200-1600 is all you could add to the front axle's base weight. YMMV...

It's definitely heavy on the front end. Up here in northern Alberta we have a lot of deer and moose on the hwy especially in the winter. This truck is a hwy truck and not for the bush so I built it to survive direct impacts and also going into the trees if you leave the road. I wanted to be able to ensure no damage to the front, radiator, etc... and there is also a skid plate underneath to stop stumps and big rocks. I built a back bumper as well (pics coming shortly) to offset the added weight on the front - It has tailight protectors and concrete to ensure surviveability from tailgaters etc... This truck is now a tank! lol.

Does anyone know if the front coils are the same dimensions in the power wagon as in the 2500 and 3500? The wagons are higher, but I suspect instead of making longer coils, they simply moved the mounting surface to raise the vehicle - thus allowing them to use the same coils and not have to create specific coils for the power wagon.

power wagon coils are 2" longer. spring rates are different as well.

Yah, I've done some in depth studying on the matter - way different. It's actually not too bad so I might just live with it, but I am going to keep checking leads. It doesn't need much, in fact I'm looking at trying to find some coil overs to supplement the stock coils,
