I don't care who makes the filter either, just so long as it has all of what it is supposed to have with good flow, and synthetic fiber. The list of companies that do this will only grow over the next 5 years, and in fact has likely grown since we started this thread.

My problem with M1 filters are they have almost zero commitment to tell use how they are made. I never heard if they changed from being combo to 100% synthetic, but their websites says they use synthetic but no mention if or if not they are still combo. If you want this information on RP, Fram, Puro, Amsoil or most other filters it is easily available. The whole "don't worry your head just trust us" thing doesn't work for me. Maybe Mobil 1 is as good as anything, let me know how it's made then I can choose.

Did you see the results I posted on the Royal Purple 10-48 filter ?
Per RP Rep. The filter is good based on the current design of the Anti-Drain Back Valve ....

I used Red Line 5w20 this last time, going to change oil next weekend and run a mix of 5w20 and 5w30 to get a little more cushion for the pushin.
That's a great idea !
I remember looking at the owners manual a while back and I'm pretty sure it recommended 5w30 for towing and harder use .
I don't fall into any of those categories at the moment so 5w20 it is but a combo sounds like it couldn't hurt . I have a case of redline 5w20 so I could always pickup a couple of 5w30 and then I'll be set for two oil changes with a nice blend of weights .

I ran PYB 5w30 with zero issues before using Red Line. Red Line is a little thicker than your usual weight though. I tow every now and then, but not too often. I prefer a heavier weight anyways...ended up using Delvac 15w40 on my '04 Hemi after about 150k miles just to keep it quieter.

So you running 5W-30 Redline now ? In your 2014 Ram . What filter ?

I'm about to do my 1rst (non dealer free) oilchange and I'm planing on using Redline 5W-30 & Royal Purple 10-48 filter .

Running straight 5w20 Red Line right now, using the Fram Pro Series synthetic filter. I'm going to do a gallon of 5w30 with the rest 5w20 (3qts plus filter). And then hopefully that'll last me 10k miles. I think I'm going to do an oil analysis on this first 6800 mile run with Red Line and see how much TBN is left.

Definitely can see going to a heavier weight on a high miles motor or one that's a little more flamboyant

If you have 35 dollars to burn for fun go for it, but there is no way that would be necessary. I would think about doing that at double the 6800 mile mark.

I just ordered differential oil from the link Burla provided above .
1 gal of 75W-140 GL-5 product # 57915 $74.00 for the rear and 1 gal of 75W-90 GL-5 product # 57904 $65.00 for the front .
Only need 3 qts each but the gal $ wasn't much more.

No LSD / Anti-slip additives required for the rear differential per info on Redline site for the 75W-140 GL-5 (It's already got it in there )
They do offer an additive to use with an oil they recommend for breaking in new gears .

The rear differential on my 14 QC 4X4 is a 9/16th hex , my Allen wrench set only goes to 7/16ths , so I bought one from Autozone for $8 . The front looks like a 5/16 hex for the drain and filler . Not sure , but it is of normal size . I'll be changing my differential oils within a few weeks , I'll post it up here .
Hope this helps someone .

Damn I'm glad I found this thread and this Forum !

So I changed my oil today , I went with REDLINE 5W -30 and a Royal Purple filter 10-48 .

Sorry for this being so long , I'll be tying several things in on this simple oil change .

First off the oil I'm draining is whatever bulk oil the dealer uses , it had 5k on it and I couldn't wait any longer .

2258f1497ffbba8ac0610b8519be9072.jpg

This stuff was blacker than a coal miners lung and thinner than water ! So glad I went with a 30 wt.

a388a28651bd9e4321cbf64d9035c10b.jpg

I drained it like the pic below and no mess at all .
2fadb8eb6c1bc18e2f4485396065f118.jpg

I've heard many complain about how dificult and messy the filter removal is . It would be tough from below ! I went in from the front and it was not bad at all , I put absorbent pads down and put a zip lock bag over it , a couple twist & let it drain then remove ( I didn't spill a single drop !)

Not a drop !

Not to beat a dead horse but I did look at the Anti-Drain Back Valve (ADBV) on my mopar filter and compare it to the one on the RP 10-48 . It's dificult to see in the photo but it is exactly the same .
ae7e4df394afb8546ab17d23d115227f.jpg

Next I dumped my Elite Engineering Oil Catch Can . WOW ! More than I thought ! If you don't have an OCC on your Hemi you should get one NOW ! This can is 9 OZ I'm not an agresive driver and the last 5k miles I haven't towed anything . I'd say there's aprox 8.5 OZ in this can and not in my intake !

4a9587f9d4d3cb67254a1d82ff0a21eb.jpg8b11f2ea38f8bc913823cd5728a1609b.jpg60aeced8421ebee0c92eb80d3cd90044.jpg36e0a8fe9f82e434916dd3cbf9d132f2.jpg

I've never thought my Hemi was loud , a very light hemi tick but I've heard others that wer much worse , I started up the truck and WOW ! so sooooo quiet and smooth ! It's so quiet Damn I can hear my radiator fan LOL I've never heard my fan ! LOL !
Wow I'm so glad I went with REDLINE 5W -30 oil ! !

Now I go on a test drive , I've been watching my oil pressure at diff operating RPMs and driving conditions along with the oil Temps .
With the dealers bulk oil @ aprox 200° the oil pressure would go down to 25 psi when I'm stopped at a red light @ idle and around 48 -54 during normal driving and 57 psi on the interstate @ 80 mph .

In comparison with the Redline 30 wt . @ 200° at idle 42 psi and normal driving 54-57 and at 80 mph 62 psi .

Only 25 miles on the 30wt oil but no oil pressure messages!
Hope this lengthy post helps someone!
