Most other brands don't have the specification because they haven't paid the $,$$$,$$$ to have it tested and certified for a very small market.

Not just the cost of testing and certification, many of the other current makers of 0W-40 weighted oils would have to actually change there current formulations and up the Molybdenum content to meet MS-12633 spec.

My 14 3500 gets 12 ish around town and 16 or 17 on frwy . Power is great ,now have 13,000 miles. About what i expected for a 1 ton. One complaint its very stiff, my buddys ford and chevy handle bumps much smoother.

I've been reading this thread (front to back) for about 6 months now. I finally pulled the trigger last week on a 2016 2500 Outdoorsman, I couldn't be any happier. I posted a while back asking opinions on getting the upgraded stereo, this one has it and if you like quality sounding music its worth it. Next step will be running boards so my wife can get in and out.

Reliability

Just wondering who out there has the highest mileage on one of these and what kind of issues have you ran into? I'm guessing some of the 2014's must be close to 50k. Any motor or other issues? Have you had to do brakes yet?

Weird electronic noises

I sat in my truck during my lunch today to read some things and I kept hearing a couple of noises. One noise sounded almost like an old dial up modem communicating, I'm guessing that may be the UConnect system? The second noise sounded almost like vents opening and closing every 10 minutes or so. When I first got in I did have the key on ACC to have the radio on, but then turned it off and took it out. I sat in there for about 30 minutes after the key was out and heard the noises. Just wondering if anyone else has ever noticed that.

I was told the AC vent cycling is normal . I have 44k on mine and have had more trouble with dealer screw ups than truck issues.

Oh wait I haven't had any truck issues other than the lights in OH console. That was fixed under warranty!

No problems here except a few recalls (Occupant Restraint system, Steering wheel harness, Track rod bracket) and a new engine.

At least you have a sense of humor about it.

What did you have for lunch? Shrooms will make little people crawl out from under the dash if you sit there long enough. :)

Greetings All. I wanted to slide into the 6.4 thread here and say Hi.

Gotta say I am LOVING this truck. I'm finally getting used to the interesting noise from MDS, but aside from that it is performing better than I dreamed. I bought the truck and the wife bought the trailer. I was sad to part with my 09 Ram, but she wouldn't hack it.

The only modifications made so far are the factory remote start, spray in bed liner and undercoat that I got out of the dealership for free, and although mine came with the "towing package" it didn't have the overhead lights and tow mirrors. So I found a brand new pair of em and installed them myself. Easy installation that took 15 minutes. When I take it in for her first 5k all I gotta do is get them to program the lights to work on the mirrors.

I know I might take ribbing about it...YES, in the pic below I DON'T have the mirrors up yet. I promise I did it right after I snapped the pic.

Nice truck! I'll be pulling a Coachmen Catalina next spring. Without the mirrors flipped up is it hard to see around the trailer? I don't have the tow mirrors, just wondering if I need to buy extenders.

Without the tow mirrors, you will have a hard time seeing past the leading edge of the trailer, the non towing mirrors are not that small either, so you still see, just nothing like with the two mirrors flipped up.
Check your local bylaws too about towing and your mirrors.

I would forget about the extenders, and just put on some factory tow mirrors.

I'm sitting in the dealership right now for R36, R346, and my overhead console LED light started that dimming/flickering thing.
