i just sold my 2011 1500 to buy a 2016 CTD 2500 4x4. The mod list is long for my new honey :naughty:

But I am new to this leveling and lifting thing. I just want to level the truck with a SMALL amount of rake. Are you guys saying that spacers arent needed? Just the 5100 Bils?? If so why are there so many kits with 5100s AND spacers?
The bils can level your truck, the spacers are used to maintain a certain rake. You can maintain a "little rake with bils at 2.1 (the lowest setting).

The spacers are a way of leveling, but the consensus appears to be Bilsteins as the proper way to level with the best performance/ride quality.

Is there a ride difference from the Bils being at 2.1 and 2.8? Has anyone actually tried it both settings and decided on one over the other?

Good Read

So even though I am not touching my truck (Bruce) for a year, I am researching all required parts now, so I can order them as money flows. Then one install when I return and wham, a smile across my face.

Needless to say I will scratch the leveling kit and run with 5100s all around (front at 2.1), and the 1 inch spacer in the back. UCAs as well.

Now for the new guy questions; I have the outdoorsman, I've heard I sit a bit higher than other trims, can anyone validate that?

BTW, Amazon still has the front for 90 and change w/free shipping.

The adjustable bilsteins are for 1500s only. You have a solid front axle so you'll need cool spacers or new springs to level it out

If I put them at 2.1, will that just level the truck?

I don't want to put any lift on the back, for now.

Just to clarify 2.8 in the front with the 1 inch spacer in the rear maintains comfortable ride and max lift as stated in previous pages while keeping a small amount of rake. I should be able to throw on some bfg ko2 at 295 on stock 20s?

Yes
Well... Maybe.

Might need spacers.

Yeah, that is what I have to look into. Thinking of how wide to flush with some pocket flares.

Bilstein Shock Absorber - Front - 5100 Series Ride Height Adjustable Shock Absorber - w / 0 - 2.75 in. Lift;

Is this all i need if i plan on lifting the front 2" to level it out?

I obviously need QTY 2 but do I need any other items? I read something about ball joints but not with the bilsteins?

Thanks guys!

That's it. Plus tools and a competent mechanic. I recommend the second highest setting (2.5?) For level. It may look a little nose high at first but it settles (or I got used to it).

so if I am reading right the bil's or the Ranchos up front, we do not need to replace the control arms on a 2013?
Thank you

Correct, a leveling shock will not require a new upper control arm. A lot of guys do them for cheap insurance, but not as needed as the upper spacer.
