What's the appeal of running a 2015 cluster in a 2013? Is it so you can get one from a Limited or Rebel?

I don't know the specifics of what changed, unfortunately. The remote start kit comes with one RF module regardless of year, so seemingly there isn't much difference between 13 and 14+. But, that one might be specifically setup to be compatible with both. Or, the data might be massaged in the BCM before it goes to the cluster and that's where the difference is. I'm not sure.

I just looked at my schematics for Remote Start, passive entry, TPMS and keyless start (AKA push button start) and they all tie into the same "Module-Radio-Frequency-Hub".

RFQ hub then ties into a canbus starbus connector that a myriad of things tap into like the cluster and body control module.

Obviously there is at least two different types of RFQ hubs. One without remote start and one with. When you have the remote start kit installed, one of the last things is the dealership has to program that RFQ hub to your vehicle. So that tells me there is some VIN specific and probably model year specific programming with the RFQ hub.

In my opinion there is a software issue that has to be overcome but I do not know if it would be the cluster, BCM or even RFQ hub?

I started asking just because I'm having dificulty finding a 14+ cluster with 45k on it for my 14 truck , I do however find 13 clusters with plenty of miles ...

Tpms is important to me so a 14+ Cluster is a must for me.

I understand I can get a low mileage one calibrated to my miles & hrs , but that's an extra $175 + shipping two ways .

By the time I pay $300 -400 for a 14+ cluster then $175 for calibration and shipping 3ea times for about $75 , I may as well just purchase a new one from www.allmoparparts.com and get a $15 DOT letter for the milage discrepancy.

The dealer won't care because they can see the actual mileage with a simple flash .
And for me , resales not an issue because I keep my vehicles for 15 + years .

I have heard some early model 14s will work with a 13 cluster .
I need to remove my cluster and check the P/N ....
My 14s build date is Sept 2013

That's pretty early. I believe 2014 production started at the end of July. You should look at the p/n and also compare build dates with SitKneelBend.

Is there a quick way to look-up build date? Sorry, I have lots of pictures of the front but none from the back of the clusters.

The build date should be on the sticker in the driver's door jamb.

It's only because that's all I could find for my 2013 2500 6.7, that and I didn't do quite enough research before I bought my 7" cluster...
I still can't find a 2013 2500 6.7 7" cluster

Last night I saw what appears to be a 2013 diesel cluster on eBay. I was tempted but I do not want a 13 cluster in my 15.

Looked there online and on my electronic window sticker, no joy.

Just had confirmed my 3.5" cluster on my 14 Ram is p/n 56054941AH via my vin# search and was told this p/n cluster is for a 2014 model year only .

I've also found my particular P/N cluster fits 86 different versions of the 14 Ram and replaces 7ea diff clusters ...ie ( AA, AB ,AC ,AD ,AE ,AF, AG )

@ SKB , do you know what the P/N of your original 3.5" cluster you removed from your 14 was ?
