Long time Toyota owner. I've had quite a few over the years with zero issues. Other than the gas mileage I love my current Tundra. Bought as an early 2009 built 4 house with her, Paid little over 26k in '08 and getting $19,500 on trade so really nothing to be sorry for buying her. The new Tundra is just uninspiring for body style. To blah.

So just traded for a 2017 ordered Limited. Added the few options they offer with it. Bright white chrome package. Hopefully she gives me the same great service the Tundra did. Looking forward to being a Ram owner.

Congrats and welcome!
I actually like the looks of the new Tundra. I don't think I would buy one, but I think it's a nice looking and capable truck.

Thank you. The Tundra is a good truck no doubt just time for a whole new look for me I guess. And I liked the ability to configure the Ram how I wanted it.

Welcome. I almost bought a Tundra before my current 14 2500. Too soft in my opinion but they are great trucks. The 1794 editions are quite luxurious but I couldnt pass on Ram. Hope she's as nice to you as the Tundra. Looking forward to pics

Welcome!

Former 2010 & 2014 Tundra owner here also. Great trucks and boringly reliable. Just got bored with it and jumped to a RAM.

The 2016 Tundra was my second choice when I bought my 2016 RAM last year. It was the fuel economy that was the main deciding factor for me. I actually really liked the look of the new Tundra. Always interesting to hear other people's opinions and how it can differ. Ultimately though I just could not bring myself to buy a brand new truck that get 2-3 mpg worse than all the others on the market. Especially when I drive 60-70 miles every day.

Love my RAM though. I think you will too.

Thanks everyone appreciate the hearty welcome. I will definitely keep you all updated on the Tundra vs. Ram outcome once I get the Ram. All though a little unfair as the Tundra was base model anything it had past stock I added. GPS, Fender Flares, Wheels, all the goodies. The Ram is a fully loaded but I I know my Tundra inside and out so as far as power, ride, dependability(Big shoes to fill for the Ram in this department) so should be able to compare all these items. The gas mileage is what I am waiting to see. They list the Tundra at like 17 mpg I have never hit 17 not even close and I would consider myself to be the average driver. A few mph over the speed limit, light turns green step on the gas. No baby it to see what I can get just drive it. I think the best I ever got was maybe 14 to 15 on the highway. Of course that is in Upstate NY so lots of mountains to go over.

Biggest problems with current Tundra's 5.7 engine is that is basically the same engine at the 2007 launch when it was the bleeding edge leader back then. Since then, everybody has surpassed it in both performance and MPG's.

The 2014+ Tundra's are just rehashed skin jobs and not a true generation change.

Welcome, and congrats on your new truck!

Having driven a brand new 2014 Tundra for work at the same time as I bought my 2014 Ram (similarly equipped), I personally didn't even think they compared.
The Ram is so much nicer to drive, and so much nicer to tow with.
Much more comfortable to sit in, and far more aesthetically pleasing inside. And the options on the Tundra seemed a little outdated by comparison.

The only thing I think you'll miss with your Toyota is the service at your dealer. I'm afraid there is just no comparison there.
Toyota dealers treat you like royalty.
Most Ram dealers do good work, but their service tends to be a little more "basic".

Hell, when we had our Corolla the Toyota deal used to offer the wife pedicures and latte's while she waited to have her oil changes done.
They even wash your car for you at every service appointment.

Our Mazda 3 gets washes every time, and they offer us a loaner vehicle at no charge while we wait.

At Dodge I'm lucky if I can get a ride home. LoL

This is so true... I bought a new 2005 Nissan Titan and it was the beast of the 1/2 ton world. The Tundra came out and smashed that pretty quick. Then, neither one changed anything for about 10 years and got lapped several times by the competition.

I was excited when the Toyota finally came out with a real full size truck (the T100 and 1st Tundra always seemed like a smallish full-size). I was hoping Toyota would keep on going and get into the 250/350 world but no dice.

Congrats on the new truck OP. And welcome to the group. :favorites13:

I made the same move from Tundra to RAM in '16. Platinum to spec'd out loaded Sport.

There's not too much that I miss about the Tundra. Maybe the console shifter . . . the bullet-proof dependability (I've already had two electrical issues with my RAM - but relatively minor) . . . and the cavernous rear setting area.

That said, the RAM has so much to offer that matters more . . . great ride, power, storage, interior features, handling.

I'll likely keep an eye out for the next Tundra, which isn't expected for a couple years (At least) . . . but at that time, it would have to be pretty amazing to leave the RAM.
