I have a 2004 1500 5.7L that's makes a tick noise. It has made this noise since I bought it 5 years ago. I do regular oil changes with synthetic oil. I get mixed answers for this noise some have told me low end issue, normal valve tap noise for high mileage (171000), exhaust noise. I replaced my lifters about 3 years ago and checked all valves and push rods while there. What do you think? Click link for video.

You changed the lifters and it still ticks? Did the sound even change a little when you changed the lifters? Only answer if your sure.

I guess this is your noise.

Collapsed after you fixed it? It had collapsed and then you fixed it? What I'm trying to ascertain is if it is lifter tick or not. It certainly sounds like it could be, but unfortunately exhaust tick sounds very similar. With your new lifters did the cadence or anything change with the tick?

Here's the dope, it isn't a big deal to find out if you can fix that with oil. I was trying to see if the tick is lifter related, because if not changing oils has no chance obviously. I also believe in a high flow filter with synthetic media, my choice is Royal Purple for filters and 5w30 Redline blue label consumer oil. Near 80% success rate on the board.

All of the guys so far have been 4 gen, but I'm sure we would all like to hear if this combo works for you. You can learn more about this in syn thread or search function "hemi tick" in titles only. It sometimes takes 500 miles to work,, and that is the science behind redline oil. Our belief is it is the moly, that is what separates Redline from every other oil, highest moly you can get.
