Not sure if it’s worth the trouble but is it possible to “downgrade” the firmware?? Maybe I should just save up and get a ‘17 radio and get Apple CarPlay too!

The 2017 radios don't have Apple Car Play. It's the 2018 UAS and UAQ radios that have it.

Is the ‘18 radio a “direct” Plug-n-Play into the ‘15 and is the bypass cable required after that upgrade or is the bypass only for getting into the BCM??

If you already have an 8.4 radio radio it will be a direct plug and play swap but you will have to change the media hub and get a media hub conversion harness in order for the Apple Car Play/Android Auto to work. M2mods who is a vendor on the forum makes the harness for the correct media hub. I recommend you go in to the 4th Gen. DIY section and check out the thread on the conversion. There are certain things about the radio that don't communicate correctly with the trucks such as as the turn by turn in the cluster not showing the street in most cases plus showing what station you are on correctly in the EVIC. All small things but I actually pulled my UAQ out and put my RA4 back in. I just like it better plus I like the graphics better. The RA4 also has better sound quality. I recommend reading all the info you can before you make the switch. I am not knocking the UAS/UAQ radios. They have a lot of nice features as well I just preferred the RA4.

I have a 2017 Laramie 1500 5.7, when I connect my Alphaobd I tell it to connect to my 2016-2017 body computer, when it connects it comes up as connected to 2016 body computer, doesn't matter it I try the 13-17 body computer option either.
Just wondering your thoughts.
I have successfully done my DRL's

You know I noticed the same thing when I connected to a 2017 Limited. Thought it was odd and left it at that. I did the same thing and enabled the DRL on that truck without issue.

I agree. I was all about swapping mine out for a UAQ but after having several in rentals as I've traveled lately I'm just not feeling it for some reason? Can't seem to get on board with the Android auto (seems very flaky making connection in my experience) and just like the aesthetics of the RA4 more.

As someone who has used several implementations of Android Auto, the UAQ implementation is by far the best OEM setup I have used. I could probably write a chapter comparison to other OEM systems. I also use Waze religiously and Android Auto makes it so simple and integrated.

Did a search and didn’t find so I apologize if already solved. With the Front Windows with Fob, what exactly does that do? I know the older rams had a feature where the windows would go down a couple inches when you pressed unlock twice on the FOB. Also wondered if you could turn off the safety feature where no one can mess with navigation if the vehicle is moving. Drives my wife nuts when she’s trying to help drive somewhere. How about turning on the backup cam or any cam anytime like the lockpick device doesn’t?

The global down setting enables you to roll down the front windows with the key fob
Press unlock
Press unlock and hold until windows roll down.
They will roll down as long as you hold the button
The global up feature does not work even if you enable the code.
When we disable the navigation lock out it doesn't seem to do anything. You still cannot add addresses while driving

Well, that might be the issue. I have the 8.4 and it is fully updated. Software version 17.43.01. I did change the setting back and it works in reverse now…<relief> !!
If you are currently running the 17.11.07 firmware it will work in the 13 to 15 radios. Or if you have a 2016 or newer radio in any 13 and and up Ram it will work. When Chrysler came out with the 17.11.07 Firmware it had a glitch that programmed the backup camera and the cargo camera to both be displayed on the screen like it is in the 16 and up trucks. They corrected it in the next firmware update which was 17.43.01 So if you update the 13 to 15 radios to to the 17.43.01 firmware it will stop working. If you have a 2016 or 2017 radio and you updated to the 17.43.01 firmware it will still function the same no matter what year truck it's in. Hope I explained this right and it makes sense.

Lol well that sucks I updated mine to 17.43.01. Thanks for the info on that.

Check out this post in the camera thread about the 13-15 radios with both cargo and camera video inputs...

There's a fuel capacity setting

Vehicle Config 3:
Fuel Capacity: 98 Liters

And a set of calibration values:

Cluster Configuration:
Fuel Tank Calibration, Full: 91%
Fuel Tank Calibration, Empty: 2%
Fuel Tank Calibration, LFW: 8%

I think I recall someone recently saying that they'd changed them. I don't recall the results though.

Yeah, I changed mine.

I've actually been meaning to post about it since I was asked a while back whether or not the change actually made any difference but I couldn't answer because I had yet to fill up. Now I have, and can confirm that the gauge at the empty mark now more accurately reflects that I am right at that 5 gallon reserve mark.

In my '18 CTD Bighorn 2500 with 32 gallon tank, I took the truck down to completely "empty" according to the gauge and the evic reporting 26 miles DTE. I was able to put in 27.751 gallons, which is a couple of gallons more than I have ever been able to put in with the gauge and DTE readings as low as they were. My settings are 98%/2%.

That's great.... since you made the change does the display show that your fuel range increased?

I have a 2014 2500 with a 8.4 SW 17.11.XX with a lock pick. I have added a CHMSL with camera and I am currently using the lockpick for it. I would like to move it to the radio. What harness or pinning would I have to do? The backup camera has always been in the radio.

If the camera plugs into the lock pick with an RCA connector then this harness from Infotainment would probably be the quickest/easiest to handle the camera:
https://www.infotainment.com/collections/miscellaneous/products/c4-rca-camera-input-harness

Here's what I'm doing since I'm starting with a fresh install. I ordered the Metra 71-6523 harness that I'm going to de-pin 3 wires out of and plug them into my radio harness for the camera. Then I just need to extend these wires to the CHMSL camera harness. I wasn't sure which terminals I'd need to order for the the factory radio harness and this seemed to be the easiest way to go.

The other 3 things needed are power 12V+, ground and a bus connection. These can be tapped at the C pillar according to this post:
https://www.ramforum.com/threads/anybody-add-oem-cargo-camera.70973/page-2#post-1404530

I bought some terminal connectors that I'm hoping are the right ones to use in the I440 connector mention by DeereGuy in the above post. Worst case scenario is that I tap into these wires on the other side of the connection.

Indeed it has. Went from hi 400s to mid 500s.

I'm a little confused. If you set the Fuel Capacity to 98 Liters, that equates to 25.88 US gallons. Why didn't you set it to 121 Liters?

Thanks,
Roscoe
