So I did a dumb thing and put a pretty sizable dent and scratch in my rear left quarter panel on Saturday. Took the trailer to the dump and got caught in some nasty, muddy terrain. Kids were with me and screaming at me in the cab. In the chaos I was backing up and jack knifed the stupid trailer right into the taillight housing area. It's one of those short utility trailers. I wasn't paying attention and it turned super fast. I heard a big crunch and then wanted to cry!

It cracked the bottom of the tail light housing so that will for sure need to be replaced. Good thing those stock one's are fairly cheap. The biggest issue that I can see is that it dented the frame edge around the bottom of the housing. The plastic fastener won't even go in on that side anymore. Do you guys think this is a somewhat easy fix? The scratch went down to the metal so the paint I'm sure won't be cheap.

I'll be headed to the local body shop after work to get a quote. Any opinions would be appreciated though!

Bummer! It doesn't look that bad from a body shop perspective, let us know the quote when you get it. I backed up into my brother's gas station metal pipe in front of the gas pump once. Embarrassing and costly too! Good luck!

well, given the oops I had with our basketball pole, it will be about $6-700 to fix and repaint the panel.

This is what my guess is as well. I'll post the quote later and let you guys know. Thank you for your sympathy! My wife doesn't fully understand my pain like you guys do haha.

My wife caved the rear door in on one of those poles this winter on her suburu and it was 2400.00 to re skin it.

Man, that sucks. Dumb stuff like that happens so fast then you kick yourself because you know it didn't have to happen at all.

I'm going to guess a little higher and say you're looking at around $1k. I hope its less, for your sake.

Good news, the guy told me it would only cost about $600-$700. He even said he’d give me a mini van as a loaner lol. It’s not even worth submitting a claim to my insurance. I’d end up paying more per month in the long run once they jack up my premium!

Well that isn't too bad. I wouldn't go through my insurance either, not worth it in the long run.

Drive that mini van like you stole it!! XD

$1000+ I believe that whole quarter panel has to be redone and the clear coat re-blended in would be my guess?
