Dumb, dumb Canadians.
So, now that I've said that, I came here to also say, I have rarely used the 4x4 in my truck but glad to have it. Having said that, I think the way you drive is what matters and the tires you have on the truck.

that is all...
As a fellow canuck--I have only needed the 4wd Auto -but its nice to know I can go 4wd when the snow gets too deep. Where the OP lives he should have few problems trading in a 4x2. In Canada however I rarely ever even see one on the lots new or used. The 4wd auto is awesome even if its just raining hard as the light ass end can swing around so fast -its nice to have the front end kick in to straighten you out. If he really wants the 4x4 I suggest he make the switch before he puts too many miles on it. I am sure down south the 4x2 trucks are sold and traded all the time. Up here they are like unicorns.

Clearly you haven't been in Arizona long enough for monsoon season or drive north of Payson or Prescott.
So true, I drove thru Flagstaff, AZ... it was blizzard conditions :D

I drove a new pentastar 4x2 yeah it's a good motor get better gas mileage but after 20 or so miles I brought it back. Your regret will only get worse my man. I went clear back to an 11 but got the Big Horn well equipped with a 5.7 that sounds better and runs better than my 14 AND a 4x4. The minute I seen it I knew it was me. Go get a Hemi 4 by and be done with it.

like the title says, regret not getting that truck, instead, I opted for the 3.6l 4x2 mostly because of the fuel economy, 470+ miles to the tank- Idiot, this one is.
My first was 6 cylinder 4x2, loved it. Had roll windows, nothing but auto, air and cruise control. I spent so little for the truck and did a bunch of mods like smooth front bumper fascia, cat back exhaust for sound, wheels, etc. and made it unique.

When we are driving on the road without load everyone is equal.

Have fun with it and know there are people envious you have a truck and they don't.

I don’t find my MPG not that much worse than the 2016 V6 I had. Towing a bass boat I wanted the V8 plus another kid so I needed crew cab. The V6 get crap trade in and I also got rinsed on my trade. I suggest don’t trade. I sold my bass boat and now don’t really need V8 buy I need the crew

I get a couple mpg BETTER with my hemi than I did with my 05 V-6......
(and it's a little faster)

Man, I was in the EXACT situation. My awesome, great, spectacular wife let me have a re-do and now all is well!
haha my wife told me I better get it right the first time because I am going to die in this truck hahaha. Im only 46 so she either expects this truck to last a LONG time or me to die early.

I have a 100 gallon tank.....kidding! Mine is a 26 gallon tank.

I have the 32gal tank, when full, fuel range says around 575 miles.
also remember as a teen in the 70's, the family would go dirt biking with others, everyone had 2wd trucks, although no mud and snow, we had no problems getting into the areas we went to.

As for the beer its always fresh Molson for me-I didnt know they changed it for our friends down south-I hope not-and I hope its still 5% alcohol!! As for the truck it is a quad with the 6.4 bed. I have had the seats up and the hard floor down since new-infact the plastic is probably still on the seats. It gives me a secure place for smaller tools like mitre saws and such. I have even layed out a sleeping bag and slept back there. Snug yes-but I dont need a crew cab and the bed with tonneau makes it perfect for my needs. I still call it my NEW truck.DSC00558.JPG

V6
I see the problem there. I got a good deal in the V6 4x4 with the black edition package. I love power (I have a camaro v8 6.2) so I wanted the v8 in the truck but my wife love fuel economy and for me was like love in the first sight plus the deal more than 32% off from the sticker price. I think your problem is that you sacrifice the 4x4 cause the v6 has enough power unless you need to haul a very heavy trailer and if that was my case I would stick with the f150.

Houston has more than it's fair share of 4X4's running the streets..... Our weather here almost never requires 4 wheel drive. I think it must be some subliminal macho status symbol for a great deal of them.... many that I've worked on clearly have never seen off road use.

But, as the man said "To each, his own!" as he kissed his pig!

I have been pondering about adding another truck to the fold. I was looking for a low mileage 2 wheel drive, regular cab, short box V8.
Not only are they hard to find, but the dealers have not heard the story about their resale value cause they sure want a pretty penny for one... :)

On a good day my 6.4 HEMI gets 13 mpg but there are few of those as I'm seldom on the highway and then I can average 16 mpg.

Look at it like this, you can lay that thing out on the ground and have a hell of a time rolling low and slow, or making it corner on rails.....Those of us with 4x4 play hell trying to drop these trucks without having CV shaft issues, etc.

I've never really been one to drop a truck, but if I could find a 2/3 drop for the 4x4 I'd do it in a heartbeat (if the wife would let me).

And if you need a little more gedy-up and go.....there's always ponies in a bottle or a hell of a laugh depending on which way you decide to plumb it.........
