Today, I realized that I haven't posted here in several months. I think I'll take a brief moment to reflect on some of the adventures and misadventures of this summer. But first, COVID can kiss my ass.
Okay, so I never did figure why my transmission was acting up last year, but I haven't had any problems this year. I'm just gonna have to guess that the multiple back-and-forth trips to haul hay simply overheated it. Changed the fluid and filter a few months ago and was delighted to not find any shavings or chunks in the pan. Wasn't a difficult job, but holy crapload of bolts, Batman!
I purchased a set of louvers for the rear. Love 'em or hate 'em, I think they look pretty awesome! Also, they were on backorder, and it took me something like two months before I finally received them...
My truck has gone by many names over the years, but now, I've settled on "Minion." And no, that is not a reference to the ******* guys from "Despicable Me," it's a reference to the badass demon that would come and kick your ass in his tank in the old "Twisted Metal" games.
The Duratracs are starting to show their age. I'm planning on digging up my 17" rims and buying a new set. Should give the truck a bit more lift plus the added weight (17's are steel, my current 16's are aluminum) should help with traction.
The bed has developed it's first hole. Shortly afterwards, I noticed a hole forming in the passenger-side rear door. It really is getting high-time to do some bodywork, LOL.
The engine has also developed a loud tick. Started off as a loud tick that would disappear while driving, but resurface while under heavy throttle. I can't find any leaks at the headers, so I dropped the oil and added some Seafoam. Still has a loud tick during cold start which is less so during hot start, but it no longer ticks under heavy load. Perhaps one of the lifters has one foot in the grave?
Mileage is just about to hit 210,000. Here's to hitting the big three-zero-zero!
Also, yesterday, I, in an amazing display of skewed priorities, ordered a 52mm throttle body from HiPoTek to replace my modified 50mm. Since Ryan's tune is meant to be used with a 52 rather than a 50, it'll be interesting to see what difference there is. Or, you know, there might not be anything perceptible, LOL.
Winter's coming and so will the usual annual challenges. Got some wrenching to do before the snow falls and I really gotta get to it. Friggin' lows are already hitting the freezing point, so it's anyone's guess when it's gonna start!
