    Changing cv axle

I don’t care to argue and these are my final comments. If you need to get in the last word here’s your chance. I’ll point out two things. 1. When a person get older stuff hurts that didn’t hurt when younger. 2. Up here we get cold weather (snow and ice) and the roads are salted. This...

    Changing cv axle

I bought a slide hammer and cv fork from O’Reilly and it was basically worthless. Also, quite painful at my age to take the vibration and shock of using the thing. Maybe a professional model would work better.

    Changing cv axle

Ok, the thread deserves another bump. While none of the previous hints solved my issue they were inspirational. I recently discovered a bad cv while replacing control arms and front axle bearing in my 2014 1500 5.7L Outdoorsman. On the drivers side the short intermediate shaft came out of the...

Ball joint replacement on 1500 with air suspension

Thanks, Tach_tech. I was just concerned that there would still be some tension/pressure on it. It’s in Jack mode and battery is disconnected. I’m doing the manifold bolts at the same time and just wrapping up that part of the project. Time to dig into the suspension tomorrow.

Ball joint replacement on 1500 with air suspension

I’m actually replacing the upper and lower controls arms along with ball joints and front spindle bearings on a 4x4 Outdoorsman crew cab. Question is how to release pressure on the air suspension to allow safe control arm removal. I placed in “Jack mode” but, it sounds like that just locks the...

Exhaust Manifold Bolts - Shopping List

Hi Indy, I should be good then with a couple to spare. Placed the order this morning. Thanks.

Exhaust Manifold Bolts - Shopping List

Thanks, NJMOPAR. I’m planning on it. I’ll begin the tear down when the parts actually arrive. The front struts and bearings are getting replaced at the same time so access to the manifolds will be about as good as it gets. I thought about shorties but, I don’t want to spend that much on this...

Exhaust Manifold Bolts - Shopping List

Hey Guys, it’s time to end the tick in my 2014 Ram 5.7L. I think I have the right part numbers for the bolts but, the diagram was vague on the quantities. Can someone please check my list? I’m not sure how many I need of p/n 6510141AA and 6509863AA. 6510140AA (REF 3, QTY 8) Bolt, Side Middle...

    OEM source for electrical connectors?

The dealership butchered my wiring harness while unsuccessfully trying 12 times to repair an open circuit to ignition coil 8. Mopar doesn’t sell ign coil connector, just the entire harness for $1000. I found a replacement ignition coil connector from Standard Products but, it did not include...

    Ignition coil secondary circuit help.

Old thread, I know. I’ve had the same issue for years. After at least 12 attempts the stealership could not repair properly. In my case it is an intermittent open in the wiring harness. The shop butchered my engine wiring harness to point that I will likely need to replace it.

Dash lights and backlight for instrument LED screen wont go out

I rebooted the radio as described elsewhere on this forum and then disconnected the battery overnight. It hasn't happened since my October post. I think this is just buggy software more than anything. There's security related flash (recall) out for the uconnect now but, I do now if it...

Dash lights and backlight for instrument LED screen wont go out

Same thing on my 2014 Outdoorsman. It just started tonight as far as I know but, I've had occasional low battery warnings in the morning since it was new. This may have been going on for some time now. Mine has the air suspension and it has always runs the pump randomly when parked so I...

    Paint issues

Nice pic! I looked at a lot of Ram trucks and my biggest concern before ordering was paint quality. Seems like the Mexico plant has more issues than Michigan. Fortunately my truck was built in Michigan. It had bad spot and a really bad touch up with runs. It was the first thing that I...

    Question about lifting an Outdoorsman?

Hi Bobby, I also have an Outdoorsman with air suspension and I have been considering a leveling kit. This would probably require clocking the leveling sensor a few degrees as well. In general I like the air suspension but, I think it's a little loose compared to metal springs. On a winding...

CAI - What works and any mileage improvement?

Thank you all for your input. It sounds like a CAI by itself won't do much in this case. I didn't bug the RAM for mileage (that's what my Mini is for) but I like to try to squeeze what I can out of it. Anyone having better results with the Intune, 87 mm throttle body and CAI? I have LT...
