Just because it has CREE bulbs means ****. It’s kinda like going to the store for Depends and they’re out so you buy Huggies, same thing right? All good till you have an accident, bummer.

What is everyone's thoughts on the morimoto's? I had the morimoto's in my F-150 and they were decent, but nothing crazy. I'm on the fence whether to buy a set. On a different note, anyone want to sell me the stock set they removed cheap? Would be best in the PA/MD area to skip shipping.

They’re still meh in brightness but gorgeous in terms of the beam.

i got my set (horizontal, not vertical) so that my foglights weren't these large, halogen behemoths under my nice crisp white HID projectors.

Yep, that's pretty much what I thought of them as well. They matched my HID's nicely

U guys make my head hurt lol.

Almost all of the morimoto stuff is made in China. Every box of every LED bulb, HID bulb, ballast, connector, harness, etc all says China on the box. Doesn’t mean it’s not better quality than the cheaper ****. China manufacturing lacks quality control mostly, and slightly better materials but since we all now mostly use materials made in China were kinda like... ****.

My morimoto stuff is better than my no name ebay brand crap that I have used over the years. Both are made in China. You pay more for better quality control, slightly better materials and the customer service/warranty.

The morimoto led fogs are light years ahead of a stock ram fog housing even with a high powered LED bulb. Morimoto lacks brightness but makes up for it with its optics. 6 chips or even 2 rows of 4 chips (8 total) would have been nice. 1200 lumens a pop isn’t going to get my $250. Now if they doubled or tripled the power and brightness with the optics that would be a whole different ball game.

My 7.0 MH1 retrofitted fogs I was getting shots tonight with the ground wet (not the best for output shots) and a fog but here’s a pic of just my fogs and the bushes fence is over 100ft away. You couldn’t get that with the morimoto. And why I haven’t bought them yet. But my fogs are maximum effort and a lot of people aren’t going to go through that.

Hopefully this isn't over simplifying it, but that pattern looks like you essentially just have another row of headlights down there. Which if that's the intent, then you nailed it. I understand the conditions weren't prime but it's pretty evident.
These aren't intended to scorch the corneas of all who dare be below your cutoff. That was never promised or advertised. These meet the needs for those of us that weren't satisfied with the output of a halogen in the stock housing and didn't want to make improper use of LEDs/HIDs. These lights are intended to be used all the time, not just in off-road conditions. People seem to have a hard time realizing there is a limit to the amount of light you should have (or really need) to get a loaf of bread.

To further help your argument. These lights are intended to perform as fog lights should. Side to side lighting rather than forward light. Which these lights do very well. Especially with the laminX since the yellow does not reflect off of moisture so harshly. Although its disappointing that these lights aren’t as bright as my GTR GEN 3 LEDs (which were top notch extremely bright replacement led bulbs but with a sloppy beam), these housings make the fog lights actually functional and improve the outdated reflector style housings. They are also proven brighter than stock halogen. That being said I’m really curious if they’re not bright because of laws or not. I know that the charger scat packs stock led fogs are brighter than the morimoto XBs. I’d like to know the process of going through the dot certification to help me better understand this. Can’t help but feel like California is to blame for them not being as bright as they could be (since California always ruins the fun of the other 49 states). I’d be more satisfied if they could get away with one extra strip of diodes than the unit has in it. Wish they were at least 1800-2000 lumens. Maybe one day I’ll get Jeremy to retrofit my factory fogs and paint the reflectors black.

What in the cosmetic or lighting aftermarket category isn’t made in China? The important thing is that a reputable American company sells them that backs their products and adds an aspect QC that is nonexistent with the Chinese off brands.

Ugh!!! Just when I'm falling in love with these things I have to take them out and send them back to get the cheaper stuff. MAAAAAN!!! Now I'm upset I didn't do it right the first time. Guess I should have expected that when I purchased a quality product. Now I know better.

What kind of issues are you having with them? I live in Gonzales as well. I ordered a set and plan to be installing them on Friday. Hoping for good results.

I don't have a single issue at all. Lol! I love them, and love the look of them. They light up the road perfectly for me once you get them adjusted where you like them. I was being sarcastic because of the guy up top saying we wasted our money and didn't buy used the cheap crap.

Essentially yes, basically a second row of headlights as thats the projector that was used. The point being that the low height of the fog light beams allows lower lighting to be carried further out. It also adds wide light and more of it on the road right in front of the truck (which is the point of a fog light) as it pierces the fog and allows you to see the lines on the road. Is it necessary... no but is anything really necessary that we do to our trucks? I'm not sure if your being negative or positive?

But I think we are in agreement. My post wasn't to bash the XB led fogs, they are a good upgrade to the stock fogs, more light and good optics. I think morimoto dropped the ball a little with having to mod the brackets and the lack of LED chips. I would have rather-ed design for both (early and late versions) or a smaller version to fit the early version with an adapter for the late version that way you dont have to permanently mod the fog light bracket. But they are still a good upgrade for 90% of the people and the basic person can do the install, just could have been "a little" better.

Agreed, which is why I stated the 3rd line down in my quoted text. This is why I specifically buy from TRS or RetroShop, better quality and great service are a high priority for me. The XB fog isn't a bad product, never said it was, I'd say they got there 90% of the way and thats enough for 90% of us.

Seems like it was ram that changed the bracket, not Morimoto, so no reason to fault them. They got a test vehicle, like majority companies do, and made something to fit it.

you all are stupid for spending this amount of money. i'll be sending mine back immediately. i found a product that is vastly superior, NOT made in China, and costs a fraction of the price. Silly sheep!

I've spent more on a night out drinking so it's not that big a deal. Worth getting rid of my ugly chrome houings that were discolored imo. What option are you going with instead.
