I want to integrate a sub in my RAM 1500. I’m looking for good sound nothing competition or blasting power. I have been looking at the Sundown SD-3 12” sub because I think my Alpine MRV-M500 will do fine with it. The problem is to find an enclosure that meets the requirements. I have been looking at the FOX Acoustic single sub sealed and ported. The sealed box has .95 cubic feet and the SD-3 requires 1.0 cubic feet. Does the .05 cubic feet make a difference? The ported box is 1.85 cubic feet and the SD-3 requires 1.75 cubic feet. The porter box meets the space requirement plus .10 cubic feet that I think the sub displacement will utilize. But the Fox 12” ported box is tuned to 36hz and the SD-3 requires 32hz. How this difference in tuning will affect the sound? Can I make any of these 2 boxes work fine with the SD-3 sub? I’m leaning toward the fox box because I don’t want at this point spend too much in an enclosure and for the price it seems to be alright. The rest of my system includes an Alpine MRV-F300 powering a set of JL Audio C2-650 6.5” Component for the front and JL Audio C2-690tx 6x9 in the back doors. No DSP or active set up for now. Thanks, will appreciate any thoughts.
