What kind of mileage are you getting with a Hemi and 3.92 gears?

I just bought a 2023 Classic Hemi with 3.92 gears.
With a 2019 Ram Classic Crew 4x4 SLT
, Factory 17" wheels and a bed cover the computer gave me 26.7 MPH going from Long Island with no traffic to Ocean City MD Going 60-65mph
Not sure if I believe it.

My 2005 Ram Rumble Bee 5.7, 5 speed auto, stock size tires (20" rims), 3.92 gears, 4X4, 133,*** miles gets 9.25 MPG (hand calculated) city driving with 87 octane. Only mod is a cold air intake, and I use full synthetic oil. I don't do too much highway driving to check that, but last year going to Mopar Nationals I think it got about 16 MPG.

I must be doing something wrong, I bought my 2019 1500 Classic in August. And I've never gotten close to 15 mpg. It's the 5.7 hemi, crew cab and the 3.21. I drive mostly city and I don't think I'm that aggressive of a driver. I've been looking at some sort of bed cover, will that get me up to three mpgs everyone seems to be getting?
No. Studies have shown covering the bed does not aid in aerodynamics unfortunately. You have the right-lead foot disease.

Jokes aside, these truck are heavy. 22 Classic RCSB 4x4 weighs 5,030 lbs. Porker. With 3.21 gears I average a hand calculated 15mpg mixed city and interstate. Mostly stop and go city as our infrastructure is trash. Cruising 65 down back roads, the computer will read 22 to 23 but not sustainable here once you hit a populous area. That's MDS deactivated.

Not the hemis fault. My 98 GMC with 5.7 Vortec gets about the same with 140 less horsepower. Modern trucks are heavy. My 17 2500 with 6.4 gets 9 to 11mpg mixed towing. The 1500 feels like a prius compared.

That's what I usually point out when it comes to MPG! LOL. But you're talking a 2500 too.

My 89 GMC1500 (same generation, but earlier) gets about what the Ram does if not a half a MPG more. My Ram gets about 16-16.5 mpg per thankful (hand calculated over a month). Sometimes it's 15.5. And the '89 actually feel "peppier" on the road. Insurance is 3x cheaper than the Ram!

Of course you got good mileage, just look at a map, the drive from Long Island to OC Md is all downhill driving.

I have kept accurate records of every gallon of gas my RAM 1500 5.7 with 3:92 gears has had put in from when I bought it new. It now has 149,600 mikes. Best has been 20 mpg worst has been 14 mpg. Average is 17.5. 20% of my hours are idle hours. This is 100% accurate.

My 2014 Big Horn, Quad Cab, 2wd and 3.92 gears gave me a lifetime average of 18.64 MPG (99113 miles).

My current 2019 Laramie Quad Cab, 2wd with 3.21 gears has given me a to-date average of 19.85 MPG (108088 miles).

Driving style, terrain, driving routine, and towing incidence are approximately the same.

As you get older your foot will get lighter...usually.

2017 crew. 5.7 ram box with 3.92 when I bought it used with 34k miles I was getting around 21mpg.

I've switched out the stock mirrors to tow mirrors and Goodyear all terrain tires(this was an accidental purchase). Those two things dropped me down to like 17-18. My city driving is very limited to 5 blocks with no stop lights. Then 10 miles to work at 55mph.

This is still better than my old 4.7 with 3.55 ram box with quad cab and 6.4 bed. I'd only get 13mpg this time of year with a high of 16 in summer.

I should add that the 2014 had 20 inch wheels, the 2019 has 18 inch.

Unfortunately classics are coming without the cover. I might be the only classic owner upset about this.
The second owner, I am too

I'm using 93 octane mostly and have the Mopar cold air intake and getting 19-23 on highway most of the time and 15-17 in town, but I get on the accellerator easier than most cats out there that I've been seeing! I agree with one commenter, these trucks want to launch especially when you kick it at 55 to pass on a two laner!!

2022 Ram Limited eTorque, loaded long box with 3:92 gears. Over 47574 miles I averaged 16.56 MPG US. I idle alot while on the computer and phone. Some trailering and loaded miles. This includes Canadian winters. I always use the cheapest gas I can find because I am cheap! LOL

2017 Ram 1500, SLT, CC, 4×4, Shortbed, 392gears, 6-speed trans w/a camper shell. Completely stock. Recently turned over the 37000kms mark. We just did a five day trip from S. Alberta to Central B.C. Round trip was approx. 800kms. My fam of 4, fully loaded! Traveling mountains passes in late winter/early spring, either way I'm usually prepared for the worst. Tools, rain gear, tire chains, ***-a-long, tow rope, gas, water, emergency sleeping bag, ax & shovel. We hit all types of weather, snow, sleet & windy. She ran strong and did a touch under 16 mpgs! I was pleasantly surprised! My best ever was nearly 20mpgs. But the drive was longer & flatter!
