    2015 6.4 or 6.7 ?

DEF is a non-issue. Every 3-5K miles you have to fill it up with 5 gal or so of DEF from AutoZone or Walmart. No big deal. Oil filter is easier to access and change on the 6.4. They buried it on the Cummins. Lots of advice on this on the more diesel-oriented forums. Two fuel filters to...

    Need dash USB port "door"

This might be it. Same part number as the one in the link to eBay. 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT REG CAB 4x4, 5.7L V8 HEMI MDS VVT, 5-Spd Automatic 545RFE. #68164511AA: CAP. Cover. Even if it isn't the right part, this is a web site you might want to bookmark.

Crew cabs and 6.5' beds.........who's got em?

My 2014 is a crew cab with 6'4" box. Much more leg room in the back than the QC. The middle seat isn't as comfortable as the outboard ones (same as with the QC). It is a little harder to park than a QC but neither is easy to park in tight lots. The crew cab is longer than most parking spaces...

Maybe these. They look good on my truck, yes?

    Timbren Rubber Springs

I had no problem with Timbrens on my 2003 2500. They kept it from squatting when I towed my camper. It rode as smooth as always (for a 2500). Maybe things are different with the 1500's.

    Premature Leather Seat Wear

Unfortunately, if you need the bench seat up front like I do, the Longhorn (which is buckets only up front) and its leather is not available (unless something is new in 2015).

    3 kids in a CC?

My 2003 quad cab was big enough for rear facing car seats on the passenger side & middle seat plus a large dog on the fold flat floor behind the driver. My 2014 CC has way more leg room so I can't see it being a problem.

    RAM payload miss-information

With the numerous options available, it would take a much more sophisticated payload/towing calculator than what is on the web site to determine the actual abilities of a specific truck. It is not surprising that the most favorable numbers are the ones provided but it does give a feeling of...

    film strength of leading synthetics

Not Amsoil. Not the correct bottle. Looks like a Driven Racing Oil bottle. Leaving out Amsoil leads me to believe it fared as well or better than the Royal Purple.

    steering wheel not centered

You mean the gap between the wheel and the dash trim is larger on one side vs the other? My steering wheel is definitely not centered in the dash, it is far to the left, in front of the driver's seat. :)

    Riddle me this

If all your tires were the exact same diameter then yes. Tire wear and inflation pressure would be important. Inflation pressure in the front would have to be slightly more than in the rear to compensate for the difference in weight on the tires. And, of course, you would have to find a...

Tire wear issues with 2014 2500

I would think a camber issue would wear out more than just the outer edge. Plus, wouldn't it take a few degrees of too much camber to do it, something you would not get on a straight axle (unless it was severely bent out of shape). If it is alignment related, it looks more like a toe-in problem...

Ram 2500 Hemi vs 3500 SRW Cummins

Fuel price can swing that by a lot, as can assumptions on fuel mileage. In my simple calculations based on fuel prices and assumed trade-in value, the tradeoff for me would have been somewhere between 90K and 120K miles based on regular vs diesel prices and based on 13mpg for the Hemi and 17...

Cummins warm-up time in the Winter

Dodge/Cummins calls it an engine block heater. If you don't have that option, I have heard it is only the power cord that is missing. My 2003 CTD would barely warm up idling in the driveway. If I hit the highway, it would warm up in a few minutes. If I was driving in traffic, it would be...

When do do first oil change on Hemi?

My opinion: 1. You are safe going by what the owner's manual tells you to do. The manufacturer has absolutely no reason or incentive to extend the first oil change longer than it should be. In fact, if it would damage the engine, they have a major incentive to NOT extend it further than it...

    Crazy gas tank question

For many years "E' has not meant empty. There is plenty of reserve left when you're at "E". "80 mi to empty" / 14 mpg = 5.7 gal (or so) remaining in the tank. 5.7 gal + 26 gal to fill it back up = 31.7. Close enough to 32 gallons to say you have a 32 gallon tank.

    6.4 Hemi Question

Some of us have a "chirp" when the engine is cold. Sounds like a squeaking belt but it is coming from somewhere else. Mine sounds like it is coming from the exhaust on the driver's side up near the engine. No reports of a fix yet and I don't know if this is the same thing you are experiencing...

    Door flying open and closed

I wouldn't be slinging these doors open. Look at the body flex at the top hinge when the door hits the stop, even relatively lightly. I didn't notice anything different in door stopping ability between my 2014 and any of the other Dodge trucks I've owned. I don't have any of the others around...

    First oil change lessons learned

I usually warm mine up with a short lap around the block. Warm, not hot. I probably don't even need to do that except maybe in the winter. In the old days of 30W oil and sludge buildup we might have needed to get the oil hot to drain properly but in these days of 0W and 5W oil and no sludge, I...

Best exterior color that will hold up?

My previous truck was silver. The two before it were black. Black is by far the highest maintenance, followed by the rest of the dark colors. White probably hides scratches the best but you will be driving a "company work truck" unless you get a higher trim level or customize it with...

    Floorboard cooler - underneath

Floorboard cooler? You mean the storage compartments in the rear floor? I don't know why they covered the hard plastic with a "carpet like" material other than maybe to lessen the blow from stones or other road debris that might happen to hit them. If you want it to be a hard cover, I suppose...

    2500 6.4 - synthetic oil

I think the Ultra has been discontinued. It isn't listed as a product on Penzoil's website and it is nearly impossible to find. While it does show up on Penzoil's Ultra Platinum page with a "buy it" link, the link goes to a 404 page. All Amazon hits for the non-Euro Ultra 0w-40 say "out of...

    2500 6.4 - synthetic oil

If you do not run synthetic, you will be running oil that does not meet the minimum requirements. If you run anything other than 0W-40 you risk having the MDS system malfunction (or so I hear).
