So, since someone brought up a tune.

I haven’t really ever messed with tunes, unless it was installing a stereo. Lol. Anyway.

What’s the go to tuner for the Pentastars?

Big V6 vs big V6 and you give up a 1000+ lbs weight advantage and still had him till you had to back off for another car? Good showing!

My old 3.9 Dakota couldn't have done it on a good day.

I know the Taco is way lighter. I was just messing around. I bought a truck cause 1) I am more comfortable in the seating position 2) while I don’t haul heavy stuff, I like to room. 3) fits more crap then a SUV and looks better.

Thank you for the V8 comment. I would have never thought of that. Very constructive. I do like my 23 mph I get with basically all town driving. Highly doubt a Hemi is getting that.

I have 3.55s.

lol, complaining about losing a street race and bragging about MPG all in the same forum...welcome to 2018 folks (assuming he meant mpg and not mph).

Wasn’t complaining. Was just posting to start a conversation. I honestly could care less about who has a faster vehicle. I didn’t buy my truck to drag race. If I did I wouldn’t have gotten a QC V6, or a truck for that matter.

And yes. Sorry for the typo, I did mean MPG.

Some of them Tacos have a 4:30 gear and the 3.5 likes to rev. All things considered, the outcome wasnt so bad.

The modern V6 engines put out horespower comparable to V8s of a decade ago. I'm willing to bet that a modern F150 or 1500 has more load capacity, more horsepower, is more comfortable and gets better mileage than a F250/2500 from 2000.

I had a '08 F150 with a V6 and 200 horsepower. It was fine for everything except towing (and I bought it knowing that). The next year or two, the base engine was a 300ish hp V6.

Tacos are nice trucks, but they aren't fast and don't get any better mileage than a full size. I used to do a few annual road trips with a friend with a 4x4 Taco. I could g0 400 miles on a tank; about 100 miles more than my buddy.

My peterbilt lost to a Suzuki off the green, but 150 miles later I caught up and ran it over without even feeling the bumps.

Comparing ram to a taco is as apples/oranges as a Pete to a motorbike.

If you posted the same topic about you and a tundra, now that would be a similar pairing.

Well the weight on the newer Toyotas is getting up there especially if it was a 4 door! Assuming this was Toyotas big engine and new (2015 or newer), then it's a 3.5L vs Rams 3.6L so not much difference. The Toyota puts out 278HP compared to 305HP from the Ram so it does make up for having a couple hundred extra pounds so it really is a pretty fair and even race. The one BIG advantage that really helped the Ram out is having an 8 speed transmission. The Tacoma runs a 6 speed so it gives up a bit there. Let's hope the Tacoma wasn't equipped with their smaller 2.7L 4 cylinder! If so and the race was that close, you almost let a 159HP 4cyl beat you! LOL!

I have been driving my v6 for a month now and there is about 1600 mi. of mostly highway on it and when I go to pass another car I am still not sure of the distance I'll need to be safe as I've only passed 3 or 4 so far and I need far less room than I expect. This little 220 ci v6/8 spd. is so fast it blows my mind and I am really glad I got the Pentastar for its power with the bonus of 25mpg highway. I love this truck.
