Mods can move this for the OP plse. Ok the 03 is unique. The DSP is hard to find, and if you get a PM from a fellow saying he has one good luck on any future PM responses if your interested. This tuner has limited abilities and example does not offer an upped RPM past 5850 or a speed limiter increase ability other than that its OK but beware it has malfunctioned and left residual data on some PCMs and any support you ask for if you own an 03 will be the run around and all of the users fault. Personnally i owned one for about a month and although it was flawless to load unload I found it to be not as good a canned tune as the SC 3865. Unless you absolutely need custom tuning which superchips does not have then go with the Superchips as you can up your RPM shift and rev limiter and it can be used on a wide range of mopars. I posted the HP specs on another recent post for this tuner and others have suggested the older SC 3815 being just as good. Gear changes are also good to go on these. Stay away from the 1st 3714 tuner as i had one smoke and had to reflash my PCM at the dealer. Finally my comments above on the DSP are limited to the 03 Ram and experiences wanting/asking to buy one on this Forum. I could not do without my Predator and Custom Tuning on my LX Hemi Car that is for certain. Danny

How cautious should I be with the valve springs if I purchase the superchips? I have read that the 03's are notorious for snapping them

I have a Cam from Mopar that is Rated to give more power up to 6200 RPM and recommends 5.7 springs and does not require tuning, however why would they worry when their stock trucks redline at 5850 on the third Gens. My point is if you are using a Superchips your definately OK as far as springs go but i would upgrade the springs if doing a nice cam and reving 62 - 64 k RPM. I have read that 5.7 springs on 03's have failed but never heard anything local, upnote they tend not to drop a valve after overheating like the later years (LX 05-06 cars). I did find one of my 05 valve springs with a broken bucket tab (48 k miles) but it was wedged under the spring and only apparent after i took out the spring as you don,t want metal bits to fall down the oil galleys.
