I recently ordered the flex a lite 183 kit for my truck and want to install a toggle switch and an LED to show the fan is running. I was hoping someone would have some good advice on how to install those with my kit. Thank you

The instructions tell you how to wire in a toggle switch. I recommend getting a relay. Not sure about the led. Maybe piggy back the wires to the fan.

What is the relay for?

The fan draws a lot of power on the initial start up. All the relay does is allow you to control a high current circuit with a low current input. I run an 80 amp relay with my ford taurus fan for the high speed side of it.

The controller for the fan has a built in relay. You don't need that big of a relay for the optional switch. 30 would be plenty. Instead of all the amps going through the switch they go through the relay.

it depends on the type of controller you get, sometimes the relay is built in, but i agree, make sure you do use a relay, I've had wiring fry because the efan (taurus) draws alot of amps ... my controller (dc controller fk60) used jumpers to adjust when fan came on ( i set mine at 165 degrees), it also had an always on 10 percent jumper (I did this to know my fan was working), I also wired mine to a lighted switch in cab to turn the power totally off and on like now because it's pretty cold out.
