Got the 180 t-stat put in last week. Still have all the heat you need.

Is there a performance benefit, by switching to a 180 thermostat? I know the engine will run cooler, but if you can't change fan settings, than how will your computer know that you changed?

You might need to way until winter to confirm this...

The PCM uses the water temp sensor among others to determine it's calculations. The transmission also has a temperature sensor. I have a 180 stat and use a eFan with a aftermarket controller that reads water temperature. Normal cruise is 188, I have mine set to come on at 200 and turns off at 190.

Visit Wisconsin once haha I'd actually be happy with less heat

I have been there when I was young.

It's a matter of, do you get enough heat (engine temp and hcav) during the middle to coolest part of the winter? I would say, without actually having the 180 deg thermostat in during that time, it is too early to judge. I'm not saying it won't work, just saying June doesn't answer those questions.

I know what your saying about low Temps but we have had a few nights in the low 40s and it still blows really hot air

180 t-stat in mine. I've only noticed the lack of heat in the cab when outside temps push past -20C (-5f). My slow to warm code is blocked in my tune.
