1981 W150 super cab short box 360

Just picked up this truck one owner, parked in a field for 18 years since it was last on the road. Trying to get the old girl back on the road. Got it to run for a few minutes and now working out the electrical. Having a hard time identifying a small box on the drivers side fender with three wire plug that plugs into it. It’s closer to the driver past the starter relay. Here is a pick of it, don’t know what it is and what it does. Any help would be appreciated, Regards Bruce

From that angle, it looks like the voltage regulator, but if I remember correctly, usually only two of the pins have wires, and I "think" the wire colors are wrong.

Thanks for the responses, the mystery has been solved. Took the unit off and cleaned it. Here is a pic of it. Went to a Dodge, Chrysler dealership and they did not even know what it was. But the part number put into google search came up with something to with the emissions. Even way back then they started with the pollution control systems.
