1999 1500 4wd, Trans Temp and OD Light

Good evening everyone.
Past couple times I have had to use 4wd (4hi) after 5 or 10miles my Trans Temp and OD Off light comes on. If I switch out of 4wd both light will go out and stay out. Any suggestions on this? No work has been done to front end recently to cause this.

Are you driving on pavement? If you are, that is to be expected. 4WD is only designed for short distances or on loose/slippery roads. Driving it on pavement will cause issues for your transmission, your transfer case, and your tires. Remember, 4WD is NOT AWD. (AWD can be driven on pavement, 4WD should not)

If by chance, you have been driving on pavement in 4WD regularly and haven't had these issues, you most probably have finally burned up your lock-up clutch from the abuse you have given it.
