It's a 22 year old truck, something else is probably worn out..... (or not installed properly)

Do you still have the 2nd gen track bar in it? I upgraded my '02 to the 3rd gen track bar, which tightened things up some. Wasn't too bad of an install if I remember right.

I also added a steering box brace to it as well.

Those two mods really beefed up the steering in my good ol' 3500 Cummins.

Agreed. Such as the steering shaft joint or the shaft up near the firewall, or the steering box itself.
Check the shaft where it comes out of the firewall in the engine bay. There is a bearing in there that wears out and will cause alot of play.
