Well....I took out my whole drive shaft a couple weeks ago and took it to Austin to get it rebuilt (had a dent in the rear tube). I made a mark on the rear differential yoke to line it back up but forgot to mark the front where it comes out of the transfer case. So I know where the rear lines up but no clue as to the front. The front Drive shaft yoke has a grove Like it wants to line up with the transfer case spline but there is no grove on the spline. Any help is appreciated

After much searching I found this


Pro Tip
Sometimes you’ll see the 727 slip yoke listed as having 29 splines or "29/30." This is because (as shown in Figure 3 above) they are typically manufactured with one spline missing. Functionally, however, they were made to accommodate a shaft with 30 splines, so "30" is correct.

Old thread, but it doesn't matter where the dummy is on the case. As long as the u-joints are phased correctly you're golden
