2006 Dodge Ram replacement Key! Holy Cow

Tried to get an extra key for my 06 Ram. They think rather highly of those keys. SMH! Any suggestions on a cheaper alternative?

How many do you have? Only one and want a spare, or two and want a spare on top of those? What drives the price up on those keys is the electrical guts inside.

I actually looked on amazon, you can get two uncut keys on amazon for 15.00. But when i called the locksmith she laughed and made it sound like she could not use them.

Yeah, their inflated price plus a minimum hour's labor charge. If you were near here I could program the key for you at least. Look on ebay, you can find the keys easily enough. I seem to remember somewhere someone mentioned buying a key that came with a little programmer module to do it yourself.

After seeing the price, I just had a door key made $5 incase i lock ignition keys in truck.

I recently got a skim programed key from a local lock shop for $65. It doesn't have the remote access buttons but starts the engine. Dealer wanted $167 for the oem key and $65 to cut and program it. Local parts store wanted $135 for the oem key and local lock shop $35 to cut and program.

Thankful that my 04 does not have the electronic key. $10 to have (2) keys made at a general locksmith.

I bought a key from ebay then got a locksmith to cut it for about $35 CDN. The 2005 owner's manual has a procedure to program the key.
