Hey guys. I have a 2008 ram 1500 ..5.7v8 2wd..i am wanting to get longtube headers. But i dont feel like spending $1,000....i have been looking to replace my bbk shortys. Either with coated pacesetter (idk if they will fit)....or the obx headers...i will be keeping my factory cats.....any suggestions??....

I am kind of leaning towards the coated pacesetter longtubes...will they have any fitment issues

You will have to move/reposition you cats and mid pipes. The collectors on the LT's will be 3" the stock pipe is 2.5" or 2.25". Most people go with Pacsetter. The only issues I've seen are the "ear" on the Trans case has to be cut off and some have trouble with one bolt hole needs to be wollered out for the bolt to line up. My Hedman LT's fit perfectly with not trimming or wollering. Lol. Only complaint I have is the bolts for the collector flange won't stay tight. You can get an off-road y pipe for either brand. Have your stock cats opened up to 3" and have the put in the y. You will need bungs welded in for the rear o2 sensors. Hope this helps. You won't be sorry you go LT's.

Did Pacesetters here. Bolt Holes were Good and like ATX said had to cut off the unused Tab Pass side on the trans. I did find one of the translines coming out of the trans was real close but they provide a small piece of heat wrap in the Kit for that. I only have one rear 02 sensor and had a **** welded in with a 90 degree stainless diverter from a ricer car set-up, no Cels to date. I am thinking an 08 2WD would have more choices when it comes to manufacturers but thats just a guess. Good Luck you will like it. Danny

I found the Pacesetter ceramic's a good value, along with the ORY pipe modified to fit the cats make a excellent setup.

I didn't know it was such a pain to put LT on our trucks.

Did any of you guys notice any loss of mpg after the longtubes....also it appear i have o2 sensors before my cats..and directly on my cats...dont the longtubes have bungs for o2 sensors already...if so all i would have to do is expand my cats and extend my wires correct????

yes..I did that when I installed my pacesetters. had the cats opened up to 3" on both ends and ran 3"piping all the way back and added wiring to rear o2 sensors..... I also flanged my setup so I could run gutted cats and swap to working cats for emissions inspections..

ooh fred thats smart... **** lol

I have pacesetter ceramics and their ORY with cats welded in, and I'm 4wd. It's tight but it all fits. Def no loss in MPG, aside from all the flooring it I do. Great sound and power tho.

Pacesetters weren't bad to install with ory pipe. Had to trim the ear on the pass side of trans for clearance but that was nothing a saw couldn't take care of

I never mocked mine up to see if I had too, I just read how many people had too and so I did it too. It leaves a void in the casing that I packed with hi temp RTV
